The dance music scene has never been a place for egos, and people have never slated other peoples musical tastes - it has never been a place of musical snobbery. Its there to unite people.
If you don't feel that way, then you obviously don't understand 'undergroud' dance culture. |

yes...you're right...it seems they only like the commercial chart tunes with easy melodies, "agressive" beats and cheesy vocals...

Rap & Hip Hop fans have the reputation of a very childish, "Cool" and violent crowd. Wouldn't you like to give the impression that genrally Trance people are open minded, wise and listen to depth, rather than just act like a kid and "Get back at them" ?
Also, Rap, Rock, mostly Pop are the most popular genres of music in this world and in most of the airtime, MTV needs to serve the majority of it's viewers so what, you want them to play Trance for you and 3 people, then all of their other viewrs will stop watching, and then the remainder Trance fans will stop watching too cause it got too commercial and their too cool for creamy molten cheese like that? |

you are right, they trash trance more than we trash their music. I love trance+progressive and it's the only music I listen to. But when my non-trance friends would go out I would go with them to places where they would play pop, comercial dance music and also strictly rnb and rap clubs just because they where my friends, although they would never follow me at a trance club. But because of their attitude towards trance I stopped and will never go anywhere near those places again. They always critise me for listening to this 'bull' music with no meaning!!!! and that it's all crap and stupid :( I remember one of them saying "trance to us is what light is to vampires" and he would do a cross with his fingers |

Dance was never about snobbery, as i said before - its for brining people together. The only people in dance who are snobbish all work in record stores, and look at you funny unless you buy anything other than funky house.
I myself don't like UK garage, for instance - but they are doing there thing, expressing themselves musically - and im all for that.
If your a dance music snob (who doesnt work in a record store), then you truly do not understand what its all about. |

In reply to the commercial issue.
As most of u know, trance got REALLY commercial over here in the Uk. Tunes were featuring highly in the charts. ATB -9pm got in at number 1, Cafe Del Mar got in at 2, Binary Finary got 12th and so on. Then this sparked off the really cheesy artists to cash in and produce prime cheddar purely for the money. 36 months later and the club trance scene is back on track but if u go to buy a CD of trance u get a tracklisting of Scooter, IVD, Dee Dee, Lasgo, Flip and Fill etc. Only Crasher and Godskitchen produce relatively realistic albums now.
Trance will become a victim of it's own success. Now the Uk market is saturated with crap and people who refer to this as trance don't give true trance the time of day cos they think that the cheesy crap is what we all listen to. |
