Rap & Hip Hop fans have the reputation of a very childish, "Cool" and violent crowd. Wouldn't you like to give the impression that genrally Trance people are open minded, wise and listen to depth, rather than just act like a kid and "Get back at them" ?
Also, Rap, Rock, mostly Pop are the most popular genres of music in this world and in most of the airtime, MTV needs to serve the majority of it's viewers so what, you want them to play Trance for you and 3 people, then all of their other viewrs will stop watching, and then the remainder Trance fans will stop watching too cause it got too commercial and their too cool for creamy molten cheese like that? |
I totally agree. It's not giving ourselves a good image if we lash back or complain or some such thing. If trance got more publicity everyone would get their panties (or boxers of course) up in a knot and b*tch about trance becoming commercial. They already do!! Numerous thread on it already. But on another subject, I do agree that this year may play a big role in where trance is going. I'm interested to see what happens. And no matter what, I don't think any one subgenre of trance will disappear, since everyones got a favourite. Only time will tell, though :p |

uh, techno by definition is repetitive, non melodic
trance by definition is not
the problem with them is that they are ignorant, we've heard techno, have they heard trance? NO |

well lets just hope techno and trance dont mix....keep it how it is..
at least trance has a melody and a build up...keeps you interested...techno on the other hand..gets nowhere...when i went to see PVD in space...before he came on..Edgar V played techno from 11pm to 2am..ing wanted to leave..i swear...but i stayed for PVD and it was worth it..there is only a few good techno tracks IMO..like Picotto stuff.. |

also what to point out to the dumb asses out there listening to commercial trance...like darude,atb,lasgo...they are all bunch of mindless idiots that dont know good music...this happens alot of times...is like they love all this cheesy commercial tunes...but when you make them listen to hybrid, armin,h&j,push, airwave etcc...they dont like it....but they like the simple melody....its like its tooo complicated for them..has anyone been thru this before?? |
I feel your pain and like to educate my friends on the difference but at the same time I was once one of those "mindless idiots" because I didn't know any better. When you go from growing tired of top 40 and get into dance or "techno" as people who don't know any better generalize it you find the cheesy stuff catchy and you look into getting more music like that. That's when you start to discover the quality songs, learn the different genres and they grow on you because like any other style of music you need to start somewhere in order to move up. If it wasn't for ATB, Darude, etc. I wouldn't be listening to anything I do nowadays because that was my first step, as it is with a lot of people here in the US because of the lack of exposure. All in all it's not all their (the mindless idiots) fault, it's demographics and how our music industry works. They just need to be exposed by patient people who've been through that phase before to enlighten them. |

But that was the whole CONECPT of trance back in the beginning! The repetitiver nature of the songs was one of the key ingredients to putting you into a hypnotic state, or trance (hence the term.) Back then, techno was the form of music that was more involved and changing... |

The points you make are exactly WHY trance and techno should be intermingled like they used to be back in the day. I for one am sick and tired of all the f@ck!ng buildups in EVERY damn trance song... that whole thing got old about 5 years ago...
I'd prefer to have the musicality of trance (not so much the melodic aspect) with the rhythm and noises of techno, with fewer and shorter breakdowns (and not every track has to have a buildup!) |

welcome to tranceaddict...you think they all dont trash our ...i got friends that just listen to hip hop and R&B and they trash trance...sooo back to them |
Thanx. I too have freinds who listen to hip-hop, rock, pop etc, but they don't all always diss trance for being "repetitive borning " some may not like it, but the gave a listen. In that respect I find the majority of the members of ta to be "childish". Childish in that they are so stuck on trance being the only music worth listening to, and talking about all sorts of comercial stuff, and being general snobs. |
