| Thanks guys i have already started to put those tips in to action, and my attiude towards my work has improved, i am more respectful of it and what it can do, then just cram before the final. IT seems i over reacted to the final, i got 89 in econ, and 85 in Phil, but 61 in soci, just that 61 shocked the hell out of me, the class average is 61 btw. |

Hmm, try having 3 loud alarm clocks strategically placed in your room so you HAVE to get out of bed to turn them off, and set them so they all go off 30 seconds apart.
(Oh wait, that didn't work for me...)
Seriously though, it all comes down to habit, you get used to getting up at a certain time. Only way to break the cycle is to come up with some sort of motivation, get someone to make you coffee, or see if there's a good TV show on before you want to be up, or something... if you have a girlfriend then there's no excuse for not being able to come up with an idea here. ;) If you're alone then maybe you could arrange a wake-up call or something, just something to FORCE you out of bed, because otherwise you will subconsciously sleep in until you KNOW you HAVE to be up. |
haha my ex used to be the reason why i used to wake up late
ive tried alarms..but i sleep thru it. BUt yea..I agree with you..I guess its all on habit. Ill try it out..thanks bud |

Looking at those marks my advice to you would be keep up the good work. hitting the average in your soci isn't too bad. The prof will make it a bit easier next time to up his bell curve.
I got a 46% on my Soci Theory exam and 54% in my Anthropolgy :( .. NOW that is cause for concern. I just need to make more effort and actually go to class. |

WHERE did you find it? I want one!!
P.S. Any advice for someone who CAN'T F-CKING SLEEP? I've been awake for SIX DAYS, and sleeping pills didn't do crap.
(Don't tell me to spliff, damnit. I don't like chemicals and even then, I don't have a trusted source.) |

this sounds lame, but it's the only real advice for this.
relax.
just lie down and relax. don't think, "ok ok go to sleep already" because you won't that way. you have to calm your thoughts and just let sleep take you.
you should meditate, it will help a lot (not just for sleep). try meditating when you lie down to sleep, just before you "sleep." your body will be totally relaxed, and you'll be able to drift into sleep easier.
hope this helps. pm me if you need specific tips or anything. |

Ok, the tips, well thy always work for me, i am @ semester 6 out of 6 @ college, my GPA 4.0 out of 4.5....all these cos i use tips:
1. Always have Heiniken at the left side of the table, it is easier this way to drink without let your hand drop the pan (for righthanded), obviously u save some time.
2. Set up the sound so the table or chair will not be vibrating too much, it is easier for eyes when the book is not moving.
3. ONLY TRANCE, louder better, but make sure u respond to tip # 2.
4. Turn off the phones and msn and all that .
5. Always make a break if u re studying over 10 hrs. Other wise u're brain goes "DA"
6. If u are studying with u're girlfriend u have to learn some good positions, comfortable for reeading and writing, it would be goood if she would hold the book for ya or smth like that. Study only at hard surfaces....
7. Have 24 Heiniken's right next to you all the time, u don't have to get up every 30 sec to get the other bottle.
8. Believe these work, just like i did and u'll get A+ in all the classes and the studying will be fun, trust me. |

I strongly disagree with that one. On too many occasions I found myself dancing in the room, instead of actually studying. But I guess that depends on the subject. Maybe for writing code, or writing essays it's ok, but definitely not for math. you need silence for math. |

This one is obviously the key. I always keep my study beers to the right thus wasting that precious time. :toothless
And I drink crappy domestic beer. Imports must have more brain enhancing ingredients.
Thanks for the tips :) |

Sorry guys, but unless you're writing essays for bull courses, beer is only going to hurt your studying.
Stick to coffee or tea, or weed (some people say this helps them, I have no idea).
Repeat: drinking beer, listening to trance, and having your girlfriend in the room (by the way, how do you manage to pull off these 3 items at the same time, even without studying?) may be lots of fun, but will generally result in a FAIL unless you already know the material down cold. Especially the girlfriend bit, you need to get rid of 'em the week before the final, they should understand that you have more important things to deal with. Seriously. They'll be there for you again when the exams are over, no need to spend every waking minute with them.
Incidentally, I tend to turn on the ambient/chillout music if I'm studying at home. It's pretty hard to sit still in my chair when the trance (or D&B or any other upbeat music) is on. |

| Well I may only be in high school and I don't study often but when I study for exams what I find that helps me is redoing some of my past homework and assignments. Now theres only so many hours in the day and for certain subjects this isn't the greatest approach but it's always worked for me since if i read things over it doesn't help me much. Just try looking at some past work you've done and see if you can try and do it without looking at the answers adn see how it works for you :p |
