I have worked as a manager for a health food store for years and have expertize in personal training and health sciences.
Atkin = low carb diet.
Im going to keep this simple not to confuse anyone.
You will losses alot of weight bye drastically dropping your carbs/ sugar intake. Most of this is due to water loss but alot of it gets burnt off when your body goes into Keatosis. This is a state when your bodys sugar is low and it goes into your fat depos to replenish you body...
When you stop the diet YOU GAIN IT ALL BACK AND MORE! WARNING!!!
Since you have not eaten carbs when you take them in again you body doenst knwo how to break them down so it goes right to fat. The only way to come off of this diet succesfully is to take Alpha Lipoic Acid (ala) This is a pill that you take before you eat any carbs. It naturally spikes your insulin sensitivity and blocks your body from storing any carbs as fat.
Bottom line Ala turns Carbs into energy.
I use 300 to 1000 mg a day for 4 weeks after an extreme carb defficiant diet. After this time come off of it.
If your looking to buy ala go here http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/browse...rumbType=Search |

|
Yeah Cereals are pretty much junk food, with a little vitamins added to make the side of the box look like it's good for you... Then there's Total, which is still just as bad as eating a vitamin filled candy bar. |

I agree with MisterOpus' statements on body chemistry and metabolism in regards to Atkins Diet: a one-size fits all does not fit everybody.
Common sense will help a person realize this is a dangerous diet. NO [almost] CARBS? What's he smoking? Diet for the rest of your life on proteins and minimal-carbs only is absurd. Numerous factors for being overweight. This diet doesn't explain the factors or assess whether you can be the candidate. |

It's not just protein, there's fat as well, which is essential for maintaining health. |

Forget the diet all together man. What you need to do is eat right and exercise!
You should eat at least 5 times a day but not big portions of food.
Your scheduale could look like this:
Breakfast at 8: Consisting of 1 bowl of oatmeal with milk and some suger, i said some and not 2 pounds.
Two sandwiches with cheese or ham and orange juice and cofee.
Then ur set till lunch
Lunch at 11:
No junkfood! Maybe pasta with some kinda sauce or chicken or fish.
Dinner at 17:
Well whatever you like but easy on the fat things.
Sometimes you can eat french fries and a burger and that's not a problem, but don't make a habbit of it just because you're to lazy and you don't wanna cook.
After dinner you go to the freaking gym! Find a place where you are comfortable. Don't be afraid of the gym like i was.
Train in something called bodypump.
I do that and i have have turned 6kg of fat into muscle in 12 months. Great exircises and it's not to difficult either. After you got the strength or if you allready have it then go to the next level.
After you come home you can drink a protein drink and eat something light to build up ur muscles and give them the stuff they need to grow.
Remember when you exircise you burn fat and gain muscle mass. Perfect!
The only thing is that you gotta be patiant and you gotta be strict with your workouts and your diet.
Well that's my tip.. :) |

It's like instead of having your typical american dinner: meat, potatoes and vegetables, you'd have just meat and 2 servings of vegetables instead. And you can put fatty salad dressing on your salad and stuff.
Once you cut down on the carbs, you don't even miss them after a couple of weeks. You stop getting sugar cravings and , it's much better.
But really, if you want to lose weight, work out every day combined with weight training if you can, and just eat sensibly. I've been doing it for the past month and it's working great :) |
