My origins can be traced back to 1415, the conquest of Ceuta by the portuguese. One of my greatgreatgreat...grandfathers fought in the battle against the arabs and was awarded a few lands here in the country.

Half of my family was also condemned to death in the 1800's for plotting against the king...

So i guess i'm 100% portuguese, but people always think i'm russian :p

For some reason, whenever white people speak Portuguese, people take it as Russian :p

Some names from my mom's side include; Mahoney (Irish), Bouvier (French), Bothner (German) and her maiden name is Carroll (also Irish). My mom's mom's side is French/German. My mom's dad's side is 100% Irish. They all came to the Bronx (and other parts of NYC) from Europe in the early 1900's. My great grandpa from my mom's mom's side was a German Jew during the war, and luckily made it to America. But he converted when he married my great grandma who was Catholic.

I'm not as familiar with my dad's side...my last name is Cox which I think is English, and I know that his grandma was a full blooded Seminole Indian who lived on a reservation in Florida, so that makes me an 8th Native American. He also has some Dutch too.

Canadian Born (father is Canadian, mother is American), I hold dual citzenship to the usa and canada but have never used it. My mother has been here 30+ yrs, longer than she lived in America, so I consider myself Canadian completely with dual citzenship option.
