Names in Kanji

does anyone know of any free websites that will put your name into kanji? or if there is a font available...
sothis
im assuming you want this for a tattoo.

i highly recommend going to either

A) a native japanese speaker (they can be easily found at universities, etc)

or

B) ask a japanese professor, or have a friend thats in school do so.

your name could be spelled in kanji several different ways, im sure... and you dont want to it up and have it say something wrong. i wouldnt necessarily trust an online translation place.

no, i don't want it for a tattoo, i just want to know what it looks like for a potential sig or whatever...

i tried looking on google, and all i found were places that would sell you a book, or ask for 20 dollars to do it and then send you a gif...

I'm extremely bored @ work, so I wrote "Clockworks" in Katakana. Since we are foreigners, we can't use those cool kanjis for our names. Katakana is used for foreign names/words.

If you want to play around with Japanese, check this out

If you want, I'd be happy to do some more for you (bigger & better quality), give me something to do while I rot at my desk.

thanks u4ea, i'm checking out that microsoft page right now.

Hey, no problem.

After you download that IME...you may want to do some research on the 3 Japanese writing systems (Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana) as well as their phonetics. It can be challenging, but once you read into it a bit, its not that tough. Kanji on the other hand, is a bitch, I only know a few of them.

Just so you know, that katakana that I wrote for you:

sounds like this (according to the symbols):

ku (1st character)
ro (2nd character
kku (3rd & 4th character)
wa (5th character)
- (6th character)
ku (7th character)
su (8th character)

that little happy face symbol (3rd char) tells you to enunciate the proceeding character (in this case the "ku" symbol). The hyphen looking character (6th char) tells you to draw out the preceeding character "wa-a".

After you mess around with the writing, download some Ayumi Hamasaki remixes. :D
