Paul van Dyk's For an Angel and Sasha's Xpander.
PvD's anthem is what I use to show anyone what trance is about, and to me if the definition of trance was in a multimedia dictionary, it should have that soundtrack. It is also my favorite track and the tune that got me really into trance.
Xpander is IMO more intelligently built and joins house/progressive trance which I think is very important also.
Cheers!

Agreed.
But... Tiesto - Suburban Train ranks as one of my favourite ever tracks, it guarantees to send shivers down my spine, & goospimples on my neck every time i hear it. Such an epic track, although the same applies to Dumonde - Never Look Back (Original Mix), & Lost Tribe - Gamemaster (Original Mix) |

From a standpoint of emotion, this song simply obliterates any and all competition. Were it purely an instrumental track, it would be great, but combined with the most beautiful vocals ever to grace the music industry, it simply defies comparison with all but the greatest masterpieces.
The bassline is subtle enough not to distract you from the beauty of the song itself, but energetic enough to pull you into the song. The atmospheric sound effects are more beautiful than the majority of progressive masterpieces, much less those of uplifting trance. The lead melody is beautiful, if simple, and perfectly accentuates the, dare I say, perfect vocals.
This song is a once in a lifetime event, when a producer creates a song in which all the elements live together in perfect harmony, highlighting each others strengths and concealing each others weaknesses. Listening to Clear Blue Water is not like hearing a beautiful song. It is like hearing beauty itself. |
I always thought this track was cheese.. but the way he describes it makes it sound appealing.. so i listened to it again, and it 'sounded' better this time.. strange :nervous: |

There's no need to explain the reason for that track.
Other great tracks for me are:
Dumonde - "Tomorrow (moogwai remix)" this track just has everything needed to take me away.. undiscribable.
Push - "Universal Nation (original)" - this song just gets better and better as it progresses. |
