| it's possible, but i don't see that coming for a little while anyway |

can't see it happening man
well in order to have all the tunes you want on a single dvd you'll have to burn it yourself, and burning that ol' 192kbps mp3 onto dvd aint a lot of quality you know? :) also imagine having to write all those tracks down so you know whats on the disc :p and at the gig what u gonna do? it'll take forever to find a single track amongst so many others, there are also many other problems but I'm too bored to type :D |

it wouldn't be that hard
just encode at a higher bitrate
and burn them in alphabetical order
have a sheet with the tracklisting and you're good to go |

I imagine dj with a 100+ Gb Hardisk of music, two turntables and final scratch or similar.

Well, that's nothing compared to what I read in a Swedish science magazine...
They had created a computer/machine which played all the music by itself...
Perfect beatmatching etc etc, all those "simple" aspects a real DJ could do...BUT it also measured the intesity of the shaking of the dancefloor, registered the crowds shouting, whisteling, etc, and accordingly to that "read the crowd" and played the most appropriate music for the moment...
I know there were a lot of other things it did, but I can't remember them right now. This machine will be the nightmare of future DJ's, although we probably won't live to see it since the price tag on that highly developed "thing" was...um, somewhat high... |

Damn, we must destroy that machine and kill it's creators :whip:
Anyway, it doesn't seem te same to have only 2 discs, compared to vinyl, and taking a new record everytime.:toothless |

| the only way i could see this possible is if the dvd player could play songs off the same dvd for both decks. The one thing that turns me off about cdjs is what if i wanted to mix song 2 into song 1 and they were on the same cd. Youd have to make multiple copies of the same cd and thats a headache. |

I think the immediate future of DJing is going to be a pair turntables, a mixer, and CD turntables to compliment..... as it is now.
There is little aesthetic feel, or look to watching a DJ bush bottons on a CD player. Even though I find using CDs is about as easy as using records. (although CDs are more convenient, cheaper, and lighter).
As far as all this DVD audio stuff goes... yeah it sounds nice I am sure, but the ability to have 20 hours of music on one disc is meaningless because no producer or artist would release an album with 16 times as much music as contemporary audio CD-R discs currently hold. And all that extra space would most likely be used for DVD-ROM and all that extra incidental crap that hardly anyone ever utilizes, or watches.
.....it's kind of like those damn cell phones... they were good about 1-2 years ago, and now they're just getting too damn small and cumbersome for their own good.
(but this is all just my opinion, obviously) |

yeah really that has to be destroyed :whip: :whip:
but i acdtually belive that nothing will get rid of the DJ except Mtv and BET they are the ones that are killing real DJ's :whip: :whip: STUPID DJ SCRIBAL AND DJ CLUE DIE BASTARDS DIE..damn point and click DJ's  and i would hope that nothing replaces vinyl cuz it feels so nice to open up a new record and it have that new record smell:p :toothless you know what im talking about its just like the new car smell:toothless its great:D |
