Well stuff kinda got messed up between me & my ex cuz she wasn't ever really into the scene or the music so as I became more involved with TA she felt it was her competition - because she didn't understand it.
Point being - you're better off finding someone open minded to electronica who likes to go out and party otherwise whenever there is a big dj in town you're gonna have arguments..... |

a drinking 'solution' so to say...
personally its good to have a broad thats openminded, cause if you say you 'judge' people by what they listen to, then you are open for 'judging' by any number of people, and most likely more than you know.
overall its case by case, but my girlfriend wanted to make out during Xpander when we were seeing Seb, so i guess i cant complain! :) |

I would love to meet a girl who loves trance - in fact any dance music apart from hard house.
the more interests you have in common - the more chance there is of the relationship working. |

what's wrong with hard house?
anyway.. i disagree, me and my girlfriend are totally opposite. she likes to build crafts out of construction paper, cards, scrapbooks and stuff. I like to take a stick and light it on fire and swing it around like a madman. i like to go to raves with thousands of people, she gets uncomfortable around more than 3 or 4 people at once. I am very trusting, she is not.. the list goes on.
our differences compliment each other, we make a good team.
we do agree on music however though, we both LOVE trance. I spin records while she sits on the couch and bounces to the music, or makes crafts in another room of our house.
honestly if she didn't like trance, it would annoy me, but it's no reason not to be with someone, (or to dump them). there was a time in my life when i listened to music she hated, (koRn, limp bizkit, deftones, marilyn manson) we survived, i just listened in private. |

Lucky bastard :p j/k, I had the opportunity of doing this kind of thing in the past and I know how great it feels like :)
Oh, and Prototrance hates hard house, that's why he "would love to meet a girl who loved any dance music apart from hard house" ;) |

hates hard house eh? strange. it's not my favorite, but i like it sometimes..
my fiance hates d&b, so i just don't play that, i like trance the best anyway. |

| , i've been lonely for ever, if choosing a girl i chose only those who listen to trance, then i'd have to move to other country 'cuz no-one listens to trance here. you guys are too picky, it must be bad to date someone who doesn't *respect* your style of music, but don't get to the extremes! |

John Smith: Really? Congratulations mate, I wish you two a happy marriage :)
By the way, have you decided what to play at the wedding? It'll be pretty mind if they play "Binary Finary - 2000" or "William Orbit - Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten mix)" when the bride walks in :D
And the d&b this is not so bad, if she likes breakbeat just slow it down and she won't mind :p |

| i used to strongly believe that trance was a requirement when shopping for men. however ive come to realize that it's not as neccessary. i mean yeah it's great to have yer partner love the tunes and go to the parties together, but there's nothing greater than the feeling of being loved by the person you love regardless of his musical preference. though being a tranceaddict i still think somewhere in the back of my head to ask every person i meet in hopes of meeting another ta what music they listen to. (wow long runon sentence) |

I wholeheartedly agree with Swamper and dizzt: Constact arguing will be inevitable, provided you're serious about your love for Trance (meaning, you'd not just like to listen to it with headphones in the bus, but "spread" the love, share it, live it with some, maybe experience beautiful moments with your partner while being accompanied by it) Electronica additicion is a LIFESTYLE, u dont have to listen/talk about it 24/7 but it determines who you are in some sense. Its really amazing when I meet ppl (unfortunately just guys :( ) here in my country, where trance as we love it is de facto unknown, who love it too, and discover how many other things we've got in common (be it movies, interest in books, politics whatever)..it kinda goes hand in hand.
I find it hard to believe that I could have a working relationship with a girl who cant relate to my lofe for electronic AT ALL. It's become such a great part of me...I really dont know. Like Porky, I also automatically lose respct to some1 when I see how he listens to mtv e. I experience that almost every week when listening to records at my local store, finding a girl really attractive but suddenly read "austria top 40!" "Best of Trance (Pulsedriver and Jan Wayne)" or "without me" on the cds shes hearing........It's disgusting :nervous:
On a side note: speaking of peronality as a whole and music taste...what do u think is true: You listen trance because of your "special" personality..or you discover trance and your personality kinda changes in accordance with this new "lifestyle" ? |

It's just because of the way you think: you can wait for 3 minutes long intros, you know that electronic music is not as repetitive as it seems to be (you do pay attention to the layers fading in and out and you the loop doesn't disturb you because you can wait for what comes next). I started to listen to electronic music without external influences, since all my mates used to listen to pop stuff when I got into it (which is kinda normal, since I was 9 when I started to listen to house music :D). Therefore, I don't think your personality changes in accordance with this new lifestyle because, we would end up being the same thing, and it's not what happens :) Even though there's some influence from other people who might change you a bit, I don't think that's such an important factor.
I guess :D
