| yes, I agree, some trance these days is not that great, it may be cool at first but some just are not long lasting because its just something that sounds like all of the other cool stuff that's been released in the past. but what about sasha's airdrawndagger? it's a great album ... and it's not like anything else he's ever done, and probably unlike anything anyone else has done (that i have heard) it's all breakbeat stuff mostly. and then there's dave seaman and james lavelle. most of you are all probably not into those last 2 dj's very much because they don't spin too much "trance" but their recent releases from global underground have been really good, and they're spinning tracks that are really unique (or more unique than popular trance or techno these days). it's what keeps me in the electronic scene, as long as i can count on the fact that there's dj's out there breaking new grounds. |

| Hmm... I like Psytrance for it's unpredictability but it is somewhat hard to dance to some of those trax, coz' they are going at 150 or higher bpm... Hardtrance, prog, hardhouse - I have yet to mature to that level... Not there yet. So, hence was my topic - that trancerecords I bought a year ago now are pretty much are taking up space on my shelves... Hence "Disposable Trance"... :( |

| As the quality of trance sinks lower as lower, Prog gets better and better (or at least stays at the awesome level it's been at), so I don't listen to a lot of trance these days. |

Werd. I feel exactly the same thing. My first love will always be trance, though, crossing my fingers and waiting for that revival to surface. Right now, though, progressive is forward-thinking, innovative, and very much alive in my life. |

Fact Two: Anything based on patterns is reasonably predictable.
So therefore: All music reasonably predictable. |
That analogy is kinda weird... let's try another example of the same analogy:
Fact one: Some penguins are black & white.
Fact two: Some old tv-programs are black & white.
Therefore: Some penguins are old old tv-programs.
It just doesn't work.
Even though music is based on patterns it doesn't mean the patterns have to be predictable... |

| I think it is pretty normal to get bored at something. It does not only happens to Trance but to all other music genres. I'm into other stuff too, like Pearl Jam. Sometimes I get tired of some of their songs, but then after some time I play them and I fall in love with the tune again. The same thing happens to Trance. I find a new tune I get really into it, listen to it over and over again then it gets boring... But after some days it sounds just as cool as before to me... Perhaps isnt it whats happening with u? |
