i defy you to find one club now that this doesnt happen at.
this is a really bad peice of news and is a HUGE blow to the night scene. the government are ing idiots. they are just pushing the scene further and further underground. what the are they going to accomplish by closing it? there are going to be other clubs, and the same people doing their drugs.
if people want to do drugs. LET THEM. LET THEM DEAL WITH THE CONCEQUENCES!!!!!! don't be so ing ignorant and self rightous to put the people who do drugs in JAIL. they will have to face whatever concequences later. |

You got things mixed up alittle bit. Alcohol kills your liver AND you brain cells.
E is almost 99% harmless. Last time I heard, when you cmbine E with, alcohol/dehydration/exhaustion do people get sick. |

Where did you get THAT from? E = 99% harmless? How do you figure? Maybe short term but I don't think anything is harmless. Hell even breathing kills you. Not that much is known longterm about the effects of e (as far as I know) |

So far it is believed that there are no short therm effects. As for long term effects they are psycological, things like depression, etc. But these are not certain, they could just be normal phycological moods as the result of "being not at a party", general sadness for not being with your friends. But they are still unknown.

Actually I've never done E. And I probably never will because of two reasons.
1) I don't need E to have fun
2) I don't want to take the risk of getting a bad pill. My friend got a bad one... lets just say he has never done E after that.
Fantom, your lack of logical construct gives your statements no validity. You could go on forever telling me how bad it is, make needless insults, but it won't show me anything.

Well, I don't see which part of my post insulted you (I made a joke about your reasoning, I don't think that's an insult), and I am not here to explain you the effects of ecstasy (short or long term)... I'll let you find that out on your own (do some research, internet is a great source of information) and you'll find out that E is not that harmless after all.
And I think that's a pretty good choice you've made in staying away from E... cuz once you pop, you just can't stop (lays chips!).
And as for me making any logical constructs, well, I am everything but logical, so...:thepirate |

I've taken it for 11 years now. I still hold a job, I'm not depressed or suicidal, I've never had a near-death experience, and I'm not a vegetable. My memory is , but I dunno if that's hereditary, or due to all the acid I used to take before I found E, cuz I KNOW that acid ruined my brain for a while there.
Maybe I'm not the norm, but I think that I lack the addictive 'gene', & I've done everything in moderation.
But in terms of statistics, look at how many people die from alcohol poisoning, drunk driving, psorosis of the liver, & any other alcohol related deaths on any given weekend, and then compare it to the number of E-related deaths. Also, compare how many fights break out at a bar vs. at a rave. Millions of pills are consumed around the world on any given weekend, and it is SO rare that you hear of an E-related death. It's when those really rare tragedies happen, and the media takes off with it, that's when it gets all blown out of proportion, and 'anti-rave acts' start popping up.
It's just sad that more clubs are being shut down in NYC, even tho Guiliani isn't in office anymore. NY was finally getting out of that slump their nightlife had been going thru for a long time, and now this.

See Toronto went throught that in the late 90's, But we had something called IDANCE!
It will surely go down in T.Dot history. lol..can you believe they got decks inside city hall...lol I still laugh at that to this day....It's amazing what happens when the mayor looks out his window and see's about 20 thousand or more potential voters all dancing in front of city hall to Dj's and Electronic music..lol *ah memories*
Alot of Ta's here probably don't remember that...but it's the history that is T.Dot.
Someone in NYC needs to organize something like this, and show them that it's just not all Extasy cracked out people going to these clubs and parties, like any big gathering there will always be the few who try to wreck it, but if you have more honest good people, then shady characters...then you will win in the end, and have lots of places to go at night in NYC :) |

As for the E thing I look at it this way:
There are many things in this world that are not good for you, I choose to not let the fear stop me from experiancing those things in life.
Smoking can kill you, just like driving can, or flying an airplane, so if your to scared to experiance those things, then that's your problem, just don't rag on the people that want to enjoy life.

i wasnt in the scene when this happend but i remember watching it on TV. it was really funny and great to watch. does anyone have any videos of this to bring back memories? |

In reference to this quote and a few others people have made...
I've never done E. I've never even smoked weed. I fear getting a bad pill. But I'm ready to try it anyway, if I can get it from someone I can trust. Why? It's quite simple really. I've read all the scientific research on the subject and have seen the following points repeated several times:
- E is not chemically addictive. It can, of course, become psychologically addictive, like just about anything else, but that's the problem of the user, not the drug.
- The effects of E come from the added release of serotonin in the brain, a chemical that is already in the brain and also gets released from things like sex or even music.
- The only known long-term risks from MDMA are (a) neurological damage from dopamines, which can be avoided with Prozac or 5HTP after coming down, and (b) down-regulated receptors, which can be avoided by not doing the drug in excess. (This is similar to how people get "used" to very hot or cold water).
And it doesn't damage your liver, lungs, or heart. The one girl who got "killed" from E (and made everyone paranoid about the drug) actually died from drinking far too much water. I've never heard of the drug itself actually harming anyone, only the irresponsible use of it.
And, as we've just heard in this thread, there are lots of people who take the drug responsibly and are doing just fine. Dude, I bet that if you didn't know what to look for, you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference at a party between someone who's on E, and someone who's just having a great time. People on E often add to the vibe, not take away from it. So don't get all huffy about the stuff just because school, TV, and your parents told you that drugs are bad.
Try www.dancesafe.org if you want to actually learn about it, or any other drug.
