Danny Tenaglia on DTOURISIM
DEAR FRIENDS OF THE NIGHTLIFE,

I AM WRITING THIS POST HERE ON THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON TO MAKE AN IMPORTANT STATEMENT ABOUT TWO SEPARATE ISSSUES. FORGIVE ME FOR WRITING IN ALL CAPS, BUT (A) IT'S JUST EASIER AND (B), IT'S WRITTEN IN BOLD FOR A REASON.

ISSUE # 1.
WHETHER YOU BELIEVE ME OR NOT, I PERSONALLY WAS VERY SADDENED TO HEAR ABOUT THE SHUT DOWNS OF THE SF & EXIT. I TRULY DO HOPE THIS SITUATION ONLY LAST THIS ONE WEEKEND AND THEY WILL WORK IT OUT WITH THEIR LAWYERS AS THEY USUALLY DO, AND BOTH WILL BE RE-OPENED NEXT WEEK. I DON'T KNOW ALL THE FACTS EXCEPT FOR WHAT I RECEIVED IN ONE E-MAIL THAT SOMEONE FORWARDED TO ME FROM THE NEWS.

ANYHOW, I FEEL AND MADE THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AT MY PARTY THIS PAST FRIDAY AT VINYL. I SAID SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF: "IT'S SAD ENOUGH WHAT WE ARE LIVING THROUGH WITH THE CRISIS THAT OUR PLANET IS IN WITH TERRORISM AND THE THREAT OF WAR, AND THAT THIS WEEK OUR COUNTRY WAS WARNED TO BE ON "HIGH ALERT." I MADE IT VERY CLEAR THAT I WAS NOT HAPPY TO HEAR THE NEWS ABOUT SF & EXIT AND WARNED THE PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE THAT OUR NYC NIGHTLIFE APPEARS TO BE IN SEVERE "HIGH" ALERT!

I BEGGED EVERYONE TO PLEASE STOP MISBEHAVING AND POSSIBLY RUINING SUCH A GREAT THING WE HAVE IN THIS CITY BY SADLY ABUSING DRUGS WHETHER AT HOME OR ESPECIALLY IN PUBLIC AND PUTTING ALL OF US AT RISK OF LOSING WHAT WE LOVE THE MOST, THE MUSIC & DANCING, AND TO US CLUB EMPLOYEES, "OUR LIVELIHOODS!"
NYC NEEDS THESE CLUBS TO BE RE-OPENED BECAUSE OF OVER POPULATION. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THE SF ALREADY DOES GREAT IN THEIR ATTENDANCE, ESPECIALLY ON SATURDAY'S AND EVEN AS BIG AS EXIT IS, I HEAR THEY ALSO DO VERY WELL EVERY WEEK CONSIDERING HOW MASSIVE THE VENUE IS. IT'S SAD ENOUGH THAT THERE IS NO MORE TWILO OR TUNNEL, AND I HEAR EVEN LIMELIGHT AND CENTRO FLY HAVE BEEN AFFECTED IN NUMBERS OF ATTENDANCE LATELY. PS: SO HAVE WE...
AFTER THE HOLIDAY'S, IT APPEARS THAT ALL CLUBS AND BUSINESS'S TAKE A DIP AND PRAY THAT THINGS WILL QUICKLY INCREASE AGAIN. (WHICH THEY APPEAR TO BE, THANK GOD.)

MY MAIN POINT HERE IS THAT WE NEED THESE CLUBS OPENED OR ELSE EVERYONE WILL TRY TO JAM INTO ANY NIGHTCLUB THAT IS OPENED AND THEN THAT VENUE WILL OBVIOUSLY BE THE NEXT TARGET, AND THE MORE PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE, THE MORE LIKELY THERE ARE TO BE THOSE FEW S WHO WILL RUIN IT FOR 1000'S OF US. SO, I "DANNY TENAGLIA" WHO AM NOT SHY AND HAVE NO PROBLEM GETTING ON THE MICROPHONE AND TELLING THE PEOPLE EXACTLY HOW I FEEL! I WILL SAY IT AT MY PARTIES, I WILL WRITE IT ON MESSAGE BOARDS LIKE THIS ONE HERE, ETC. ALTHOUGH I KNOW ALL CLUBS DO SEARCHES, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO CHECK PEOPLES PRIVATE AREA'S WHERE THEY HIDE THE NONSENSE. SO, I, AM EVERYONE HERE JUST LIKE I DID AT MY PARTY TO PLEASE HELP US SAVE THE PARTIES BY IMMEDIATELY AND ANONYMOUSLY GET THE ATTENTION OF A SECURITY GUARD OR CLUB MANAGER AND POINT OUT THE PERSON YOU JUST WITNESSED SELLING OR BLATANTLY DOING SOMETHING ILLEGAL LIKE POPPING A PILL OR SNORTING POWDERS, OR DOING THE WORST OF ALL "GHB." YOU ARE NOT BEING A RAT BY DOING THIS, YOU ARE SAVING OUR PARTIES AND OUR JOBS!

I KNOW THAT SOME OF YOU READING THIS MIGHT EVEN BE SOME PEOPLE WHO ENJOY RECREATIONAL PARTYING EVERY NOW & THEN, SO I GUESS I AM BEGGING YOU MORE THAN ANYONE TO PLEASE REALIZE THE THREAT WE ARE IN RIGHT NOW IN 2003 HERE IN NYC CLUBLAND! PLEASE HELP SAVE OUR NIGHTLIFE.

JUST THINK HOW MISERABLE WE WOULD ALL BE IF THIS CITY WAS LIKE BOSTON AND PHILLY WHERE ALL THE NIGHTCLUBS HAD TO BE CLOSED BY 2AM!!!?? HOW HORRIFIC WOULD THIS BE? NO ONE WOULD EVEN BOTHER GOING OUT AT ALL. SO ONCE AGAIN, I BEG YOU ALL TO TAKE PART IN BEING A PART OF THE SOLUTION AND CONTINUE TO POST SUGGESTIONS THAT MIGHT HELP US CLUB EMPLOYEES AND MANAGEMENT KEEP THOSE UNDESIRABLE AND EVIL PEOPLE WHO JUST MIGHT RUIN IT FOR "ALL OF US" OUT OF "OUR" PARTIES. "P L E A S E"!
--------------------------------->

I HOPE YOU ALL APPRECIATE MY POST, SORRY FOR IT BEING SO LONG, AND I WISH EVERYONE NOTHING BUT THE BEST FOR ALL OF US INVOLVED.
SINCERELY,
danny tenaglia

yeah but he's got a point.
people snort your lines, pop your pills, shoot up, smoke, whatever in your cars, in your houses or whever before you go to the club. don't bring the in with you. where you can get the club owners in trouble.
government is already trying to screw people enuf, don't help them out even more.
be smart and safe

What about the majority of the Clubs thriving off of the Drugs that are brought to clubs? DT is ignorant about the scene he has made his life. "Please stop doing drugs." Thats like telling gangstas....stop killing eachother. Its part of the scene, drugs + music = Packed Clubs.

How can you insult DT, he is making a statement that will affect the electronic scene. All of you should take in consideration what he has to say. Half of you who have replied, are from the US. Do you people want the electronic scene to die before it started! Soon enough you guys will be complaning once again how the scene over in the US sucks, compared to europe. So please don't be idiots about this.

i didnt care much for either. if you ask around, ROXY NYC is the hottest club at the moment (my personal favorite too). Its where i saw armin van buuren, ferry corsten and now on the 21th.. i believe, Paul van DUCK (:D) will be dj'ing through the night. ROXY also hosted many other great djs from around the world.. specially the last 3 months of 2002.

But seriously, the problem isn't people doing drugs, the problem is a corrupt government that doesn't tolerate it.

i wanna say i respect danny t as a dj, but he doesn't seem like a fun guy to hang with. Asking people in this culture not to do drugs is completely unrealistic. I'm not gonna try to justify/explain the connection with drugs and dance culture...much smarter people than i have written volumes on just that. But take away the drugs from the scene and watch these clubs shut down faster financially than they ever were politically. It seems he's worried more about losing his job than keeping the scene alive for its own sake. I could give two s about Danny T's "livelihood" just as he could give a about me. What i do care about is having somewhere fun to go Fri/Sat nights and fortunately for him this leads us to the same goal. However, a lockdown on the drugs is not the answer. Believe me this isn't going on now because people are taking more drugs, its just getting exposed more now so the city is taking it more seriously. I bet Danny wouldn't care if 10 people a night got taken to the hospital as long as it wasn't affecting the club. And i wouldn't blame him for this, why should he care about a coulple of idiots who over did it. Just don't act like your sitting on a moral high horse and just now attack drugs.
..feel better..(i need to listen to Back 2 Basics and let it chill me)

you are sad and please feck off (you shouldn't be on tranceaddict, you should be on drugaddict  )

if you don't like the music and can't have fun dancing to it don't take drugs so that you can pretend to do so, you are just destroying the scene :whip:

*disclaimer*I am reffering to people that do what I said, I know there are people that take drugs but also like the music very much

The problem IS people doing drugs, its getting out of hand.

As a Dj myself I would love people coming to the club to listen to me play, not just getting high and "bugging out".

What good is a Dj if there is no club to play in?
