Montreal is the headquarters for techno in North America. Anyone who argues that has obviously never been to Montreal.
...Montreal also has its fair share of a house scene too - I'd say its biggest "scenes" are techno and house. Toronto is just a hybrid of everything. (except techno!!!) |

I love techno music, but the parties take EVERYTHING outta me! The pace of the music, and the amount of energy i spend leaves me in recovery for days!! I think if there was as much techno here as there is in MTL id have to eventually amputate both my legs. But obviously, having talent like Picotto, Beyer, Umek, Kenzyani, Carola, Barbara
(in the same month especially)shows that our techno scene is getting better than it used to, and should be a sign of things to come
 |

I disagree.. :)
all of these dj's have been here before, 'cept umek&kanzyani...
if things were changing clubs should be filled up with new talent dj's.. dj's that weren't here before, but have rocked all of europe with their talent < by saying this, i mean the tekkno dj's..
just a few names.. trevor rockliffe, jel ford, h-foundation, craig walsh, oxia, hacker, deetron.. that's only a third of my list..
furthermore > i don't think any of these dj's were ever here.. why/   |

Of those dj's youve named, i only recall hearing h-foundation, and oxia. The other ones, ive never even heard of. I consider myself to have a pretty good knowlege of techno and maybe the reasons we havent seen these dj's are..........
1.)They are so underground most people wouldnt give a flying if they got a party flyer with their names on it.
2.)Like many people have said on this thread and others, Toronto doenst have a big enough techno following.
3.)They havent done enough to make their names recognizable to the frequent party goers in our area (ie; essential mix, mixed album, etc.)
My original point was, i dont think Toronto has EVER seen a month filled with such techno talent, and regardless if theyve been here or not, i think its a huge step for the techno scene in our city. |

hopefully, toronto's gonna bring some huge names to town.. there's so many swedish and german djs' that imo are incomparable to some of the progressive/tech/w/e dj's.. ;)
but look, many people didn't know who valentino kanzyani was.. i think umek took him along to show him the north AMERICAN soil :) - since i doubt that tino was ever here.. there the slovenians are gonna do it..
how 'bout the swedish let's say.. johan bacto w/ joel mull.. :) :D
i hope it changes for the better.. i hope another tekkno dj residency is in the happening - smtn like m.oliver @ guv / sat.. i hope ;) |
