Because if you where, you would realize what you just said proves the point I was making. 7 percent of Gross Domestic product of China is = to about 140 percent of Canada's...You have to figure it out with a huge mathematical equation (that's what people go to school for years to figure this out for).

Population china over 1 Billion, population of Canada 30 million, you can't compare that.

So In conclusion:

RJ was right.

nah man you're not getting the point. We have nothing to thank them for. They didn't do anything for us. They did it for themselves. You obviously never paid attention in your economics classes because that's the foundation of capitalism. People (goes for countries too!) do whats best for themselves and as a result everyone is better off. If americans bought billions of dollars in Canadian goods they did it because it gave them some kind of value and other businesses in other countries do and not because they are doing canadians any favour. Pay atention to your lectures next time.. maybe wax your ears or something

Whoever gave the mexico analagy is spot on! Haha never thought of that.

dude if you dont understand what I said your education is definitely in question
Ckerr812
lol...No because I realize arguing with you would be about the same as banging my head on the wall for 10 minutes because you have no idea what your talking about.

It's just better to let you live in your little world. Thinking your right..lol

and why don't I have no idea about what I'm talking?? you have a ph.d. in economics that I don't have? just tell me. My point was valid the first time I posted even tho I made a mistake in my numbers.

I want to point out a few things. When free trade first started, Canada lost a HUGE number of manufacturing jobs. We were doing fine really before that. The fact that we have recovered through large exports to the U.S. is largely because of our dollar becoming so devalued over the past 12 years. Now, although it seems good for us to have a low dollar if it increases our exports and tourism to Canada, it actually hurts us in many ways as well. The most important in my opinion is the fact that Canadian property (including companies)is so easily bought by foreign (usually U.S.) investors. Their dollar goes so far here that most of our large companies are foreign owned to as much as allowed by law. That sucks! Another important factor is that our national debt which is signifantly to foreign investors is harder to pay back when our dollar is weaker. Maybe one of the economy masters (pun intended) can tell us about some other bad effects from a low dollar.

heh..you have no idea do you.

We have already proven that canadian economey is dependent on America, I just proved that.

So now you want to argue that the American econemy is dependant on Canada...lol That's just foolish talk. And the funnier thing is...the guy that started this thread now says...Well umm..We don't owe the states anything..after he found out RJ was right in his opinion.

lol..like I said...why would I bother arguing with reasoning like that, it's just a waste of my time you too found out you where wrong and want to cry and name call like babies, so it's not worth my time.

Now your trying to act like you know what your talking about when your talking to someone that knows alot more about this subject then you.

RJ WAS RIGHT! now stop crying about it.

Oh BTW, I do have a Masters degree...thank you for asking.

Ya man we have both rebutted your arguements successfully. Why do you think you know more about this than us? What education do you have that we don't? Come on prof. Ckerr give us an answer!

you think you know so much, but you are not listening to what people are saying

they arent saying that canada does not get money from the states, they are saying that if worse came to worse, we would not all die of starvation if the usa just disappeared. (as you seem to be putting it)

we have the education and resources to live comfortably.

but naturally 95% of our money comes from down south... because theres so damn much of it there. anyone who opens up a business is going to attempt to market to the states. who wouldn't. Best way to make money is to do business with americans.

but you are missing the point, if the usa did not exist, and we were forced to do business elsewhere, we would be fine in the running.

so bravo for being able to look stats up on the internet, but they dont prove your point at all.
