No you didn't prove . Yes Canadian economy is dependant, but not in the way you and others make it sound like. If it was that case, we would be in deep because of how the economy is doing south of the border.

So now you want to argue that the American econemy is dependant on Canada...lol That's just foolish talk. And the funnier thing is...the guy that started this thread now says...Well umm..We don't owe the states anything..after he found out RJ was right in his opinion.

you are assuming that, I said that exports to Canada are important to the US economy. 150B USD isn't pocket change by my standards, that's alot of jobs. Don't forget also our market is 10 times smaller than theirs, they can't export as much as they want taking this into account. While Canada(thanks to high level of industrialization) can produce more than its domestic demand thus exporting this much to our neighbour to the south. We are so close to this giant named the USA that you can't ignore its huge market.

lol..like I said...why would I bother arguing with reasoning like that, it's just a waste of my time you too found out you where wrong and want to cry and name call like babies, so it's not worth my time.

yes i admited I missed on ONE figure. don't argue with me if you don't want to. Nobody is forcing you, just ignore this whole thread.

RJ WAS RIGHT! now stop crying about it.

no he's still wrong.

Oh BTW, I do have a Masters degree...thank you for asking.

yes ass-master.

Well you just made an opinion that you have no idea what your talking about, you don't know me, never met me and can't back that up one bit.

That means your just bullting exactly the same as when you make opinions about National Economies.

I can back it up, cause I have met many Ta's and they know me and where I went to school...lol

There's a point for you.

and for the record I was never yelling.

because to educate someone in Geo Political and economic inflation and how the world economy works will take years.

so if I can go run to my text book and regurgitate "Geo Political and economic inflation" so I can sound so smart, means i'm educated?

HAHAHA
you sound like tommy boy when he says "uhh I was just checking the specs on the in-line of the rotation gerter.. ahh im retarded"

and back to who would buy our exports?
well anyone we bothered marketing them too. thats what humans do is make their products appealing to others for purchase.

cause you seem to think that if the US didnt buy our stuff no one would and we'd all give up and just not export anything.

huh

perhaps you wouldn't try a way to export but many would make fortunes doing so.

Are you that unhappy with your life you want to argue all the time?

Not me guy.....

Facts are facts...if you don't want to learn then hey..I am not going to say anymore. But it's that kinda attitude when I was young that I really regreted, I didn't listen to what people told me and thought I knew it all...but it's that kinda attitude that lands you a job at mcdonalds for the rest of your life.

So I see this thread has some growing up to do.

I want to point out a few things. When free trade first started, Canada lost a HUGE number of manufacturing jobs. We were doing fine really before that. The fact that we have recovered through large exports to the U.S. is largely because of our dollar becoming so devalued over the past 12 years. Now, although it seems good for us to have a low dollar if it increases our exports and tourism to Canada, it actually hurts us in many ways as well. The most important in my opinion is the fact that Canadian property (including companies)is so easily bought by foreign (usually U.S.) investors. Their dollar goes so far here that most of our large companies are foreign owned to as much as allowed by law. That sucks! Another important factor is that our national debt which is signifantly to foreign investors is harder to pay back when our dollar is weaker. Maybe one of the economy masters (pun intended) can tell us about some other bad effects from a low dollar.

You are right that there are 'bad effects' of a canadian dollar, and you're probably right that we lost alot of manufacturing jobs but you are wrong that our low dollar is the reason we have recovered. The reason we have recovered (according to macroeconomic economic theory anyway) is because free trade causes a decrease in the general level of prices for everyone. When production leaves canada and goes to mexico or elsewhere where labour and other inputs are cheaper it causes prices of products to fall. When prices of products fall the disposable income of residents goes up proportionally. Maybe Ckerr with his  masters  can explain to us how a reduction in overall level of prices helps the economy and increses the number of jobs

The cause of the low canadian dollar is a result of a number of factors. One reason many economists claim is that it's a result of the lower level of productivity in Canada. Maybe Ckerr can explain the theory of how productivity affects the currency in an open market economy. come on Ckerr it is economics 101.. enlighten us
