any druggies care to respond? |
A little harsh, I dont touch drugs personally, just the music does it for me but you have to remember that everyone has a choice. As soon as the US government realises that drugs arent goona go away this issue will be easier. But the USA has to go over the top in everything ever.........
All countries should follow the example of places like Amsterdam, legalisation of certain substances allows for more sensible use of them as the 'thrill factor' of it being an illegal activity goes away. |

Well I'm not into drugs but I'll happily respond.
By abiding by unjustified legistlation, one legitimizes that legislation. So, unless the legislation banning drugs is justified, one would only be contributing to the creation of more unjustified legislation by choosing to abide by it.

I am strongly in favor of the legalization of drugs for the following reasons:
1. Why not have the hundreds of millions of dollars people spend on drugs each year stimulating the national economy instead of funding international militant organizations?
2. People ought to be allowed to choose their own health and lifestyle choices, not have them dictated by some self-righteous authority.
3. It's a common myth that drugs cause crime. However, it's the black market created by the fact that drugs are illegal that cause crime, not the drugs themselves. Thus, legalizing drugs would actually reduce crime (drasically).
4. I don't believe in victimless crimes anyway, and no, victimizing yourself doesn't count.
5. I don't like my tax dollars being spent imprisoning people who aren't a threat to anyone and were simply addicted to a substance when they were too young to really know any better.
6. You can't regulate drugs if they're illegal, and the impurities in unregulated drugs make them all the more dangerous. If drugs were produced by large corporations and monitored by the government, the problem of impurities would be greatly reduced, if not eliminated.
7. The actual health problems caused by most drugs are greatly exaggerated by the propaganda being put out by the media.
8. If drugs were legal, it would help faciliate useful research into how best to mitigate their bad side-effects as well as what constitutes a safe dosage, what drug interactions people should be aware of, ect...
9. For many young children, drugs have a "mystique" which tempts them to try them. Legalizing drugs would be a step towards eliminating this "mystique."
10. Enforcing drug laws costs billions, and I do not see any benefit being produced whatsoever.

I think I've said enough. |

dood stfu! you dont know what your talking about..... but since i have witnessed pretty much all of the uk's club culture since 88 pretty much when it started... let me tell you what i know
drugs r pretty much what started the scene..... clubbing is all about having a good time.... drugs help this along more than anything. clubbing means expressing yourself thru dancing to let off steam.... another thing that drugs helps with.
if it wernt for drugs, the club scene wouldnt be as powerful as it is.
in the late 80's - early 90's ppl were going into fields, holding illegal raves. and basically everyone there would be absolutely obliterated on drugs, but all having the time of their lives.... for those few hours, everyone loves each other, and loves the music, it is because of these partys that the culture grew to be so strong.... 'the strength of unity'.
BUT.... im sure im not the onlyone who will say this..... in the eyes of the drug taking clubber..... YOU SELF RIGHTEOUS ANTI-DRUGS PPL are exactly what is ruining the scene.... with your narrowmindedness.... sluggish drunken behaviour and fighting...... leading to deaths.
indeed, drugs may be the end of clubbing in the US, but thats the US thats killing it....... dont blame it on us fun loving ppl loving, music loving drug takers, when your country is piling laws on to complicate the scene..... either way.... id sooner the club culture die completely because of how it is now, and be remembered as being the best lifestyle to be a part of, cos of the drug taking party ppl, and funseekers.... as opposed to dieing in the sense that it becomes over-run by the pissed up drunkard brawling narrowminders like you, and completely destroying the club scenes credibility.
if club scene does die (which it wont ever).. drugs will have been the birth and the death of it...... and i have to say, that im so glad that i have been ed off my face to witness it.
peace .. long live drugs, clubs, and good times |

Slain,
it sounds like you are assuming that clubbers are the only ones that use drugs, or that 'drugs' are only those that fall into the category of illegal club drugs according to the US govt. but largely it seems you assume that drug use can just simply disappear in accordance to the RAVE act.
thats entirely illogical, just like a bill trying to void anyone's business permit for having an establishment that caters to drug users---which means almost any business in the US...
other than that, arbiter lined it up nicely| |

i totally disagree with that, you close down the clubs, then theres nowhere for ppl to go and take drugs, so they will be used either at home, or in underground raves or house parties. there will become a greater black market for pills and speed etc... making the whole concept of buying and taking club drugs a much seedier issue |

drugs made the music we know and love.
live with it :)
the atmosphere at an event would be e without drugs.. and besides, its not the druggies faults for getting venues shut, its the governments fault for havin such an over-reaction to what is actually a not-so-harmful drug (i.e. ecstacy) |
