go beat a bush, you obviously don't know what you're talking about
clubs get shut down regurlaly around the world because of drug issues.
speaking of rave act, for example france passed one in 2000 that states that any electronic music gathering shall possibly be called a rave and that the owners of the equipments being used for such events are direcly suable. party in your back yard can get you *shut down* and your equipment seized. |
Too bad for France. I'm criticizing the RAVE Act for what it stands for, the stupid War on Drugs. Of course clubs around the world get shut down for drugs, that's not unheard of or anything new. Having moved from the U.S. to Holland, i've noticed the obvious. You should know that drug policy here is nowhere near the repressive nature of the policy in the most influential country in the world, the US.
Anyways, I do know that France is one of the less liberal European countries when it comes to drugs, so I apolgize if you felt i was generalizing.
Since you put down my thoughts like that I assume that you favor the RAVE Act, right? |

hehe I didn't mean to sound as attacking as it looked like it ;)
Right now I'm in the USA, and .... I've seen the best and worst security here ....
do I support a rave act ...... yes and no ..... I mean is it gonna change anything ?
and btw in recent years most governments in europe have been working on banning, or limiting raves or the so called amplified electronic music movement. .... . they're cracking down everywhere :nervous: |

People on ecstasy won't mess with you (not in a bad way :haha: ), as opposed to alcoholics that can be extremely violent.
I was gonna ask how old you are since it appears that you've never been to a real trance party, but then I saw that you go to Stanford maybe? The people I know from Stanford are very open-minded and always stand up for liberty and its just causes. I think you're misrepresenting them on this one pal. |

The RAVE Act will just serve as an excuse to close down more clubs. Why support that?
Well, as I said my experience is with Holland, and I've been amazed with how tolerant and pragmatic society is in general. I know that clubs in the UK have also been shut down. Does that make the RAVE Act right, I don't think so.
I've been to Akron, I have a couple of friends that studied music in the university there. Nice lil' town. :p |

Unfortunatley, Holland isn't the best example to base something off for America.
They have a much smaller, contained, Homogenous population than the US, which makes everything VERY different. |

Clubs in great cities like Boston have to close at the ridiculous time of 2am. Talk about Puritan roots  . Not to mention that alcohol traditionally makes people more violent, something that is very evident in US clubs.

there used to be times in Germany when there was an hour at which every club/ bar/ pub needed to be closed. Our good short friend with the interesting moustache was responsible for that.

Here in Europe I don't see any RAVE Acts going around. Why's that?
|
Because european governments do not believe that all their citizens are stupid? Because european governments have found other ways to deal with the real problem, which is people DRIVING under the influence (if u end up going to Nature One, you will notice the police controls at the exit. Make sure your driver is not rolling, or he can say bye bye to his license) |

hello! it's my scene that's being attacked because of people who want to "have a good time" by smoking this, swallowing that, snortin this and injecting that. I don't do drugs, yet i have to give up my right to club and rave because of them? |
