explain me the diference between uplifting trance, epic trance and melodic trance?

I disagree. I think that 'epic' 'uplifting' and 'melodic' are just different peoples interpretations of the same type of music. And the best one to use is 'uplifting' coz thats what it does psychologically. IMO :D |

Melodic trance is any trance that has a melody
hard trance can be melodic trance.
acid trance can be melodic trance, but not alway too melodic.
Epic trance is any trance that typically melts people with its melodies. usually softer, or milder trance it can be energetic.
Epic is your typical everyday trance, but it is seprate from cheese or very poor melodies.
adn uplifting is anything that is uplifting, and that usually depends on the person. I would consider PUSH to be less uplifting, but some may not.
you can have hard uplifting or soft uplifting. some may say uplifting is uplifting you off the floor and making you dance, others may say uplifting is uplifting of the soul or spirit.

melodic trance - rank 1 airwave
uplifting trance - rank 1 - airwave
Epic trance - maybe maybe not parker & clind - generator
melodic parker & clind - generator

^^^^ I kinda agree with you... but...
a) Uplifting trance: maybe either epic and anthem trance (some TA's consider even Dream House as some sort of uplifting trance).
a.1) Epic trance: laid back, with a beautiful melody and often has female vocals. Ex.: Paul Van Dyk - For an Angel; Solar Stone - 7 Cities (Armin Van Buuren mix).
a.2) Anthem trance: extremely energetic and has an anthem (duh :p). Ex.: Transa - Supernova.
a.3) Dream House: Not trance :D Robert Miles - Children. Has housy elements but the structure is more melodic than usual house (hence the name).
b) Melodic trance: any trance that has a more complicated melody... maybe epic, anthem and even hardstyle... not a proper genre, but a group of them, just like "uplifting trance". |

Anyways, my thoughts on uplifting trance is what nowadays _could_ be referred to as cheesy trance... Easy for "the rest" to listen to.
A track I really like that qualifies as uplifting is:
Spoiled & Zigo - More + More
And for the melodic trance, see anything from Fire & Ice, they're extremely great at melodic trancers :)

For me its:
Uplifting: A track with a nice melody, much energy, and makes you feel happy. Ex: Fire & Ice
Melodic: A track with a good melody, not that much energy, and can make you both sad and happy. Ex: The Thrillseekers
Epic: A track based around a long, beautiful melody, and often with many strings. The amount of energy varies. Ex: Ferry Corsten (not System F) |

it's all due to interpretations. at the end it's all the same I guess. always though this track was more melodic or epic then some says it's uplifting, same for the opposites, in the early days they might had fairly different meanings but nowadays they all just define the same style of music.
but if ya want clear examples of what are the differences .. i think dj2001 gave some good ones. that kinda sums it up, apart that.. I always thought System F were the most epic trance out there :wtf:
