| Ive heard other really interesting info from sites who examine the goverments actions and sometimes get into some "touchy" topics who are banned from google all together whiothout noice,reason anything ther just gone. seems like just one more vice the gov has on masss media and the influence it brings to the masses. :whip: |

Lets see, if they're storing that much information about every seach, it's going to take at least 1 kb of storage per search. 150 million seaches a day = 150 million kb of information per day, which is 150 GB.
If that's all true, then, Google has to be collecting almost 60 Terabytes of information every year. That's pretty wild. It's hard to imagine that its economically efficient for them to store all that information permanently when the gains they are receiving from it are questionable. |
60 Terrabytes a year is nothing... you could hold that in one cluster of servers. |

| Each major governament in the world hold more than 200 times that amount when collecting and storing satelite info which it sorts thu with computers for "red flag" or "KOEYOWRDS". I forget what the name of it is but its been in the paper. SO ya it is nothing. |

Yes, but the question is, what money are they making from this information? 60 terabyes is by no means unconscionciable, but if they're going to be paying for this storage which is only going to grow at an increasing rate, they must be getting something pretty significant for it. |

congratulations. that's precisely the kind of ignorance that's wanted.
how do you judge it if it 'sounds as complete bs?' what do you mean? the factual information? no, it's actually pretty precise. anyone with rudimentary computer knowledge would be able to find the truth on their own computer for most of what's said.
and the author didn't claim that they're going to install cameras in your showers - he said 'privacy timebomb.' privacy timebomb has a specific meaning. some of the things in there are farfetched, but it's all very astute and poignant.
you wanna hear about timebombs? microsoft. their policies have always been security timebombs. the amount of holes that are rampant in services like IIS cost business billions of dollars every year. that's a timebomb - lack of vigilance to a set of problems in a timely manner which lead to reprehensible events that cost other people money.
and why should you care? well, think about this:
next time you google for 'sweaty midget bestiality snowballing donkey cumshot,' someone will have that information. what they use that information doesn't matter - do you want them to have it at all? |
