Okay, so some people were left out in the cold with tix in hand. This is Paul Van Dyk people! Sell out crowds in every major club in the world...Roxy is not an exception. Oh, and I believe most of you were complaining about EXIT and how over crowded it was. Roxy and NYC have placed a maximum amount for the safety of you. Get there earlier.

That was beyond moronic...
People with tickets should get in first. WTF???? :nervous:  :nervous: :nervous: |

hi there,
i have one little thing to say.
how come if you know that pvd is town, specially at roxy, you people decide to go late. I mean, first it's pvd, second, I assume you people should know (at this point) that when Paul is in ny, its like hell inside the club. I personally got there at around 11.40 and got in at 12.10 no problem.
i am sorry foe those of you that did not make it but somewhat i would call that negligence.
all the best,
f0x |
I'm sure it crossed most peoples mind that it is probably best to arrive at a pvd event early, however many may not be able due to extenuating cicumstances or even work obligations and such. This is a big purpose of presale tickets, to gaurantee entry into the event that one cannot arrive early enough to ensure entry themselves. |

You might want to think your thoughts thru before spouting stupidity like that.
Can you name ANY other situation (concert/ club event/ theatre play, etc...) that oversells tickets, where you take a risk not getting into EVEN if u have a ticket, if you don't arrive early? Why don't you call Ticketmaster and ask them if they sell tickets to such places with these clauses attached? What would be the point of selling advance tickets if it didn't guarantee you entry? Those who don't buy advance tix are the ones who risk not getting in, not the other way around.
Every club has a maximum capacity- based on that #, the club knows how many people will be allowed in. If you buy a ticket, that guarantees you entry. Ticket holders should be allowed in 1st, end of story. If the club reserved some tickets to be sold at a higher price at the door, they should know how many CAN be sold, based on presales. If they were planning to oversell it from the get-go, the problem is right there. If fire marshalls were just being over-protective, that's out of their hands. But the bottom line is this- clubs need to stick to their fire codes, and let the people in with tickets FIRST. |
Hey Nataly! I completely agree with u! Very well said! I cant imagine how pissed i would be if after getting to NY all the way from Montreal and having a ticket i would not get in. This would be just crazy. I got there arround 12-15 and the line was all the way arround the whole club building which is huuuuuge. I got in only at 3 and missed an hour of PVD's set.
For sure lot of ppl with out tickets got in, i personally saw arround 50 ppl paying the bouncers and cutting the line. Last time I remember something like this happening was in RUSSIA(!!!) in Moscow on the soccer game. But it's Russia, ppl, police there treats everyone like , and u cant even sue them because of the law system and corruption. I would not expect something like this happening in US in the "land of democracy":stongue:
For sure there should have been a line for ticket holders ONLY, and ppl without tickets would not even be let into that line.
, i am going ing crazy when i think that if I just missed one subway train on my way to Roxy the whole ing trip from Montreal would be a huuuge waste of money and time :whip: :whip: :whip: |

Sorry to hear this guys :(
We had a similar problems yesterday at an event............
#1)non-ticket holder and ticket holder in the same line :wtf:
#2)advance tix and door price are 5 bux difference so no point of buying advance tix cuz of #1
#3)waited in line for an hour cuz the fire marshalls have to check the club out
I think promoters/clubs have to get their together b4 they organize an event :whip: :whip: |

Glad I got there early to catch the entire set. PvD was definitely amazing last night. Those of you who got in were treated to a superb set and some insane crowd that didn't wanna leave even as the "get out lights" came on.
Unfortunately, the next time PvD returns, I hope his guys can make sure it's organized better. Whether it was Made who oversold tickets or just Roxy's dumb policy with a single line for everybody... someone seriously messed up. Like airlines, the idea of "advanced tickets" is to guarantee admission. Obviously, it should have made sense for a separate line for ticket holders and another for stand-by. This way, if the club does get to capacity, those with tickets have a much better chance of admission.
For those who are bashing on Roxy, keep in mind, Roxy was selected through a poll on PvD's site earlier. And the fire marshalls and NYPD are simply doing their jobs to keep things safe. Security presence was really good throughout the night, especially at keeping the exits clear and detering other suspected illegal activities.
For those who had a miserable night, I'm sure you could voice your story out to PvD's management so that next time, he'll know how to better take care of his fans. He's truly one of the few DJs out there not just out to make $. |

Ortemy- I'm so glad u made it in. What a nightmare that would've been for you.
Even here in TO promoters still don't separate the lines most of the time at these big events. It's such a joke! "Sold out" pre-sale events always seem to have an endless supply of much more expensive tickets at the door, and then people with the tckets have to stand in line for hours to get in.

yeah i totally understand what you are saying, buuuttttt my plans changed within the day and i could not get into the city until later and the fact that i waited in line for about an hour until they decided to close down. i was pretty pissed but i came back and saw him.
i just could not make it in time.....last time i went to see pvd at roxy i did not have these problems. so yeah i arrived late but it was also poor promoting on roxy and madeevents part....
but i would not use the term negligence b/c it was not entirely my fault i think it was largely roxy/madeevents fault..
i was not the negligent party, they were for overbooking..my opinion from my buisness law classes and other law classes i have taken...
from one standpoint what exactly is the definition of negligence and when it comes down to it all who was the more negligent party in this case? the fire marshall, roxy/made for poor planning or the guest that arrives late?
a thought one should ponder on when one uses the term 'negligence'

(oh dear i hear thunder and see some lightning here in NY, i am terrified of both still when i was younger i had a terrible fear of both when the tree fell down in our backyard when it was struck by a lightning bolt:eek:  ) |

yeah its raining.. and i dropped my cell phone in the water tonite :(
Anyway my good friend was outside and they didnt let him in, he came down from boston and got screwed cause he was stuck in traffic. He wasn't being negligent except that he went home first to see his parents before coming out. I say: who needs mommy and daddy when you can see PVD :) |

I would have been seriously pissed if it happened to me... I swear I would have decked one or more of the bouncers just to make me feel better.... s... hope next time they get their straight...
It was a wicked night though...
Sorry you all missed it... |
