MTV + Trance? (pg. 2)

| I don't care what anyone says, trance is still far from mainstream...I still know so few people into it, it's only through the net that most people can get contact with it still (at least in N. America). We don't get MTV in Canada...we get much music and I've yet to see trance there. |

| yall are all a bunch of babies....quit in whining......u cant tell me that the first time u heard trance it wasnt on some 'pop' techno cd or on a commercial on TV...and dont give me this bull that yall are 'underground' and keeping the scene real, plur, blah blah....u should be happy for the progress electronic music has made in the past 20 yrs...becuase if it never progressed chances are u would of never heard it to begin with and u would still be sucking your thumb listening to slipknot or arvil lavinge.... |

| they play trance/dance music in the backgrounds of alot of things... for example.. if u watch ESPN(sportscenter) u can hear trance in background. also, most Video games we play have dance/trance music in background. I def. do think trance/dance music is becomeing big in the U.S |

thats pretty damn funny you say that b/c I've seen P. Diddy at PvD twice, P. Diddy was in VIP, but yes he still made an appearance... so yes P. Diddy is a PvD fan.... who knows what that might lead too??? |

This scares me, largely because P Diddy probably knows nothing about dance music or trance for that matter. |

i was watching a mtv (america) tv show one day
it was called made, its a show where they help people achieve their goals on and on this specific episode they were getting a fat girl on the cheerleading team, they played olive - you're not alone |

| trance music is such a perfect background music. Who here doesn't listen to it while doing other things? I mean when you first hear a song you want to just listen to it, but it's the perfect music for lots of things, playing game, reading, talking to friends, acheiving chemically altered states of consciousness (now what ever could I mean by that? :D ). In this context/useage, I don't mind it at all as background on a show, nor would I mind a show dedicated to trance on mtv. But at the same time I don't know that I'm entirely comfortable with it because once something becomes mtv'ised it loses some aspect of its specialness. If you ask me the last show on MTV that could play music and have it not become pop-culture bull was Headbanger's Ball... ever since the waning days of that show mtv kinda' seems to have an anti-midas touch effect. If trance could survive that sort of upheaval in its popularity, we'd be alright, but I don't know that it's a mature enough musical scene to support that. I don't like it overall, but I'd wait and see. I don't think the scene is big enough to become prime-time mtv material, so right now I'm not "worried," simply concerned. |
