Taken from this Interview
Q. Carrying on with your studio. Do you feel you are more of a producer than a DJ or are they both very much parts of your life?
A. Actually, in the beginning I felt more like a DJ. And then after a couple of years, it was like well, I want to make this music myself, its much more fulfilling if you get to play your own music. So then I started producing. I'm getting more into the producing stuff nowadays. Now I work with my engineer. [Before,] I couldn't make a good mix down, because until three years ago I used to do it all by myself - everything, the programming, the mix down - and I just noticed that I missed some talent in mixing down the track. Now they sound so phat and that's because of my engineer
Who else here thinks his older tracks/remixes sound better - production wise? I think his remix of Tears From the Moon has been mixed shockingly, the vocals don't seem to fit well in with the rest of the tracks in that production, maybe he should loose his engineer?
Just a thought :tongue2 |

Sorry, but WOW:eyes: that was gay.
I dunno if his engineer is to blame...it all comes down to Tiesto approving the sound he wants. If he leaves it up to his engineer to master his own trcks and produce them, then he(Tiesto) is to blame even more...your remixes are , and on top of that, you let somebody ELSE master them? It's like getting a hand me down ho...
If artist TRULY want to represent their own sound, they shuold have to rely on themselves to master their own damn equipment. Look at Max Graham...he has VERY minimal equipment in his studio(maxgraham.com) but his tracks are worlds beyond anybody elses...he even said it himself that he chooses to fully become knowledgable with what he has instead of having to make it up by stocking up with nonsense junk and unneccesary . |

| I never said I didnt like his songs, infact I own most of them on vinyl. Im just commenting on the actual production/mastering of the tracks - I personally believe they used to sound more crisp when he engineered them himself |

Because the good thing about these boards is that we can get together, discuss, and constructively criticise. If you're not going to add anything of value to the discussion, keep quiet. |
