I think that song is the one with the drum beat sampled from an old track, "Give It Up". RJ has the original around somewhere.

alright, time for a quick post. just when i was getting over my cold, i had to go and see mauro. goddamn, i think i have strep throat right now. and i apologize in advance if i transferred it to anyone :nervous:

the night was full of ups and downs for me. got excited when all the tas started coming, then tired. more excited for the meetup, then tired. huge jolt of energy when mauro came on, and that laster for a while. i loved the tracks he was throwing down too, such a menacing, relentless style. i love how he fades out for a tiny bit in the song, then brings it back in full force. pure mauro.

then later on i was getting realllllllyyy tired, and kept coughing, so i grabbed some ear plugs, tried a red bull (thanks for lookin after me nat:)) and chilled on a couch for i don't know how long.

then the red bull kicked in, and i pretty much went all out the rest of the night. i don't know what the track is called, but it sounds like feedback being pitched down, and then looped, with some really altered vocals. graham knows what i'm talking about. :)

all in all, had a great great nite, and going sober was a huge huge plus.

shout outs:

-nat: why do i even try to come up with something. quoting the mc from mauro's mysteryland set "you're da best!"
-ilyia: party isn't a party without you man :D love the hat
-graham: so releived you got in man. lots of parties ahead for ya :D
-jenna: what a great girl, so welcoming and friendly
-mike: looked familiar from 1st year, hehe. hope you had a great night man
-as: as always, wicked partying and chilling with ya for a bit. got my glasses on now :p
-rj: hot damn, you saved my life with the cough syrup gel cap! it wore off near the end, but that allowed me to go all out while i still could
-vince: (pretty sure... neonalien) don't worry man, practice makes perfect with the shirts. and i agree, no dark room = sad.
-technoaddict: totally forgot you were coming! crazy beats!
-mirza: seems like this was a warm up for technofest eh? can't wait :D
-nrg2nfinit: crazy energy man! thanks for the advice, if i ever have time i'll do it, hehe
-leila, yasmin (pronounced yesmin i think) and steve: glad you guys enjoy yourself. i love how we always run into each other :D

i can't remember if i forgot anyone, but sorry if i did.

now back to lying on the couch waiting to die :disbelief :disbelief :disbelief

..finally woke up.. :)

..i expected tekkno from mauro and i got some good tekknofor the first hour of his set (best part when he played pontape).. sometimes he wen't a bit trancey, hard&tekk trance, but not for long.. still i heard a lot of genres in his set.

..ianno he was good at times, i really couldn't stop dancing (due to the white french wine, redbull/vodkas, & coronas).. but at times he was just ok, sometimes kinda boring.. he would play one ok track, and then he would mess up the next one, and the one after would be a great one.. i didn't like that much:mad: :(

..he played umek's new track (detolvin?) in his first hour, 'bout 20mins before he dropped pontape.. later he played benozal.. i was too drunk to spot his tracks.. i also think he played pornorama - leliwa in some sick rmx, as well as red eye's trax..

..what saved the party's high price was the atmosphere.. i'm not gonna comment on drugged out chinks cuz i didn't see any :conf:(one on the guest list lineup .. they were too many good broads to even pay attention to them.. :p futhermore, all the friends from kitchener/hamilton, there were about 20 of us groovin' at the same time.. too bad i had to leave at 4 (worked from 7>5)..

..i met a lot of ta's but all i remember is time2burn,highroller,hz,neon,and brunette /:*/  i think there's more :)

..atmosphere 4/5..
..ppl 3.5/5..
..musaaaaq 4/5..

..impressed but not too impressed (i wasn't there 'till the end of his set).. :) it was like my shirt stated - never trust a dj..

..next up: beyer,carola,kanzyani @ systems..

..cya.. :D

T'was definetely one of the best parties I've been too:

- great crowd (didn't see any meatheads, barbies, or cracked up 40-year olds)
- the atmosphere totally rocked - didn't feel like you're "at a club," but instead felt like you're at a party!
- great venue, although it seemed very small and packed, you could always find room to dance or go to the back and totally feel free there
- the security didn't give me any , lol they even let me in with a pack of Tylenol ;)
- as for Picotto - honestly, it wasn't the best set I've heard in my life, the beat actually got boring at times (felt like someone's banging a nail into my head). But the music was great to dance too! I particularily enjoyed the weird/slow tracks that he put on in the middle of the night.
- I was surprised that a few TA's recognized me, even thought I'm still a junior in the forum
- on the way back, the ppl that I was in the car with kept on telling me to stop shaking because it's OVER!

btw, did anyone else see that blond guy who was standing up front and could stick his finger or a dime throught the hole in his tongue? First I thought I was hallucinating, but when he showed it again I got totally freaked out.

The unfortunate thing is that this was my last big party until may. Damn midterms and exams ahead! Well, maybe I'll go to darkrave on the 5th... :happy2: :)

PS. Those damn legs of mine are still sore

As I said, this is an OLD track. I've got a 2 CD set from the early 90s called "Rave Anthems" that it's on (I have to dig that CD out from a box to check for sure). This CD has 2 Unlimited and "injected from a poison" song on it (to show how old it is).

The song is: The Good Men-Give it up

None the less, that song is at least 7 or 8 years old. I remember listening to that while driving to WEFM 1 (I think this year was WEMF 5 or 6). I've founnd the Good Men remix record for sale online (FFRREEDOM lable) and it's from 93, so if it -is- the good men, I'm thinking the original is like 92/93.

Good to see that Nat remembers the old school tracks. ;) See, us oldies are still good! We remember the old tracks... lol

Ok, here's the review:

Mauro was good. What can I say, I always enjoy Mauro as he is one of the best DJs that I've ever seen. I could never NOT enjoy a Mauro set.

Maybe it was just me, but this set had something different about it then the October set (which is ok). I was expecting a little harder techno style, but at times it felt more hard house/trance.

Technically, Mauro was great (why else would he have been a DMX champion). The set that he played on Friday had great energy, but not enough for me to bite my teeth into (which was a good thing since I was tired/sick).

Anyway, good to see everybody, TA makes any party a GREAT party!
