No way man, it's definetely not "Give it up." Manson's "beautiful people" sounds closer to what Mauro played :). Possibly the beat from give it up was sampled or "improved" in some other song and then Mauro sampled it from the second song. The tune is very familiar though. I think they played it @ darkrave on Mar 1. Maybe Tordan can confirm, cos I'm realy not sure.
I read the crappy reviews about destiny.. Phef, I almost ended up going there instead of Mauro. Speedy2K and I went to System to purchase the tickets, but once we got inside we realized that we were short in cash. On our way to the bank, Speedy started whining, something like "ahh, mauro, I don't wanna hear his hard anyway, perhaps we should go to destiny etc." So we went to a record shop on Young and he even persuaded me that destiny would be better. The only thing that stopped us was the price ($37) that they charged at the store. Then we realized that we have to buy tickets for 2 more ppl, and that would mean that we'd have to go to the bank again (since we didn't take out enough the first time). And so we came back to system and bought the tickets for Mauro... :D

I'm not saying he played it - I'm just saying he mixed in the percussion on the song (or mabye it was a part of a track).. None the less Nat and I clearly heard the track mixed in (either as a part of a track or just mixed in on top).
None the less, that is such a classic track.. lol.. |

Been a little reluctant to post til now.....
Something just wasn't 'right'..... I'm the LAST one on earth who wants to admit that, but it's true. Ironically, the review I most agree with is Sake's. I absolutely loved his set in Oct., and was hoping to convert Sake to a Mauro fan with a repeat performance, but it didn't reach that level of excellence. Mauro looked a little wiped himself. Last time it was pure techno and electro. This time, the trancier sound was creeping back into the set. Now, I'm not one to complain about trance at all, but for some reason, it just threw me off. I thought I would never hear a twinge of trance in another set of his after his last performance. Found myself off wandering the outskirts instead (something I've never done b4 during his sets). Kept yelling at NeonAlien to smile cuz gaddamn it looked like he was gonna kill himself most the nite, but I think I know what I can attribute our mood alteration on.... Actually, it ruined the rest of my weekend too. I've never felt so scatterbrained for 2 days after. Here I am, still on the computer, 12 hrs b4 I need to leave to the airport for Miami, not packed at ALL, so much to clean.... I'm just retarded this weekend cuz of it.
T'was good to hear the songs already ID'd in this thread, and the "Clocks" (Picotto edit) was awesome, but there weren't enuf high points in the track selection for me. I liked all the electro influenced tunes. Heard some great song that sounded like it could've been done by Bolz Bolz (their sound) but I have no idea who it was by. Was :( that he didn't play "Dark Room", and even sadder when I read he played it in NY. No, he didn't play the original of "Give it Up"- just a song that sampled the beat.
Seeing Mauro in Ilyia's hat was a RIOT!!! We handed the license plate to him at the end of the set, and while it got the loudest roar from the crowd that entire evening, it was a very short roar. The license plate is being retired from club appearances.
The TA meetup was good- I think we got the best TA group photo EVER out of it. Nice to meet barofsoap, who travelled from NYC, and the infamous Sake "E.O.D". Shout outs to Swamper, NeonAlien, Mike & Jenna, RJ, moti0n, Durafei, Ortemy, Nrg2Nfinit, shaya007, muff2k, drewfactor & Alex, highroller, hordash, techno addict, time2burn, cuzo, Bandit, Diamondx65, Nelson, & my 2 bra-busting babes ;). Special thanks to Orin for guest list, and to Mauro for the mix cd.
Pics of Mauro in Ilyia's hat, and the pierced tongue guy will all be on trance365.com as soon as they fix our technical problems. |

Yeah, that was one looong weekend.. great party, afterparty, night/morning/day.. I had a lot of fun, lots of friends.. I liked his set, altough it surprised me that he was pretty trancy, which is unlike him.. nonetheless, great music, but that wasn't the best thing that night. At first it took me a while to relax and get into it, but soon enough I was having a blast.
Met hell of a lot of TAs - Time2Burn, Swamper, Durafei, Ortemy, Hordash, Sake - in that order. It was very cool :D :D
Last few parties my hearing was messed up due to lack of earplugs.. this time, I completely lost my voice :| |

The party was definately worth the trip from Montreal. The vibe, people, music - everything was great. This was the first time I saw Mauro, he did not disappoint me even though I am not a huge fan of techno. Met many TA's - Itikia (outside flyering for PVD:D), Brunette, Time2Burn, Hordash, TechnoAddict, Durafei(remember that guy with russian militia hat? :stongue: ).
I will definately go see Mauro in Aria on Apr. 11th. Are any of TOTA's coming for this party? |
