two words for this party..

F*CKED UP

I cannot even begin to fathom this experience in my mind .. all i can say is.. DAMN WHY DIDN'T I GO TO SYSTEMS FOR PICOTTO INSTEAD !!?!

I'm gonna keep this review simple and to the point.

Night started off with a 1 hour lineup with AmbiguousBliss, her friend and a friend of mine. It was cold, rude people cutting in line and giving lame excuses to bouncers to let them in.

Saw Tordan leaving Viva on our way to the line. Explained he wasn't heading in due to the $45 door cover plus the massive lineup. Good for him he probably made the best choice that night. We get inside managing only to catch the last 45 mins of Ed Rush & Optical's set. Then finally I anticipate Pulsar .. only to see OS/2 come on the decks. And I'm thinking .. okay WTF OS/2 is not supposed to be scheduled to play now. Finally I see Durafei as he flags me down to explain that PULSAR AND ANDY CLEETON could not FLY IN DUE TO A MISHAP WITH BRITISH AIRWAYS OVERBOOKING THEIR FLIGHT. (No wonder I saw people trying to sell their tickets in line!!) At this point I was beyond pissed. He explains to me that a statement was issued by the 2 DJ's surrounding the circumstances on the door - but INSIDE THE CLUB!!. I read it over. I'm sure SOMETHING must have happened which was beyond the control of anyone, but I just thought .. WTF. If I were Destiny I would have !@#$%'n packed them both in a box and have them shipped here UPS. I could go on about this, but I'm not going to cuz i KNOW you guys are gonna publish their statements online. So I'll rebuttal to that. Anyways, just thinking of this makes me angry and I'm gonna leave it at that for now, since I know that Destiny is gonna take some massive heat for this from others. Viva was pretty full but not overpacked like some who were at NYE may say. The crowd was a bit young, maybe because this was my first time back at an all ages rave in 3 years. And I think it will likely be my last. No disrespect to any of the 16 year old TA's on this board, some of you kids are the coolest ppl to party it up with. The point is that I totally know now that I feel out of place in that kind of environment. Many of the ravers there seemed as if they were from a totally new generation of kids who never partied at old Lifeforce events before. Most of the people I used to know from raves in the hayday have either moved onto other hobbies or are regular clubbers like many of us. It was alrite 3 years ago or when I was in highschool, but now going on 23 years of age, I think it's time for me to retire. Maybe an Ascension boat cruise will entice me to go again. But other than that, my days of all ages raves are done. Left the party at 5:30 am .. and time for me to sleep and get up at 12 pm for work.

TA shouts: (in order of appearance)

AmbiguousBliss
Tordan
Itikia (if you want something done right, do it TR style ALL THE IN WAY !)
MissQ
Durafei
GT_Trance
Nikish (mofo jungalist soldiah!)

didn't see: ~FAIRY~ or Elmo-on-XTC or jenna_rae (where you guys even there?)

Anyways, yes a dismal TOTA turnout and no doubt a byproduct of having Mauro spin at Systems the night before and not announcing that Destiny was gonna be at Viva soon enuff. So nothing that I didn't already expect. I just expected some Pulsar/Cleeton TRANCE.

High-lights of the night:

- The jungle sets
- Seeing the Go-Go Dancers dance to jungle, hey they did a good job !
- Seeing Durafei's gf's halter top with an ICQ logo on it.. jokes !!

Low-points of the night:

- TOO MANY TO MENTION ...... :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:

Sorry guys, never thought I'd have to add Destiny to this list:
(and it's a short list too)

All time WORST parties for me:
1. Liquid Adrenaline - Time Warp 5 (August 2000)
2. Destiny - Ravers Gone Wild (March 2003)

Next party:
World of Drum and Bass - March 29th @ Koolhaus

time to go sleep off this anger ..

dEsidEL OUT.
Tordan
I agree 100% with dEsidEL. Why oh why did I come back at 3AM after leaving earlier cuz I didn't wanna pay $45? Being a party animal sucks sometimes :(

those of you who IRC will know what this means:
/me kicks himself!!!

Only two good things came of this night:
- meeting AmbiguousBliss for the first time
- the Jelo vs. Dekoze set (wasn't the best but they kept me movin)

No more 14 year old ravers gone wild parties for this old fella *yawn*

I would just like to say that Destiny amazing. The Jungle was off the hook. Was very disappointed that Pulder wasn't there. But OS/2 did an absoulte awsome job. Thats the first I've ever seen him get into it. Good to see. Although I didn't stay till the end Dr. Trance and St.Pete were sick. NO cheese. I would also like to say that the vibe at the party was really nice and that I only wanted in line for 20mins. LOL

peace whitey:eyes:
Elmo-On-XTC
I didn't even go, I stayed at my friends party too long and found out the buses stop running through Markham at like 11:30. Guess I didn't miss much. Why didn't they have people at the doors explaining the Pulser & Cleeton couldn't make it...before people got in?

Anyways I can't do any reviewing. I guess my next party is PVD...I'm start choosing my parties very carefully from now on. I have a cold, im tired, and I have a load of homework due for tuesday :whip:
trancearmada
*stands in the corner and wonders why he got flamed for the last time he wrote a review of a y party thrown on by "Destiny"   yet there are no flames here yet?*

Well, you've seen ~FAIRY~, now you'll just have to guess who it was... :D

Anyways, I really don't want to review a bad party.. Destiny probably tried to make it great, but again due to "unforseen circumstances" they weren't completely successfull.

I'll write my review anyways, cause I feel I need to say it.

As soon as I enter the club, I find out that neither Pulser nor Andy Cleeton are able to make it. I realise that it's probably not Destiny's fault, but some kind of offer for a free party in a future would sure be nice. Well, there was none of that. Sure the line-up was great bla bla bla.. But I didn't pay $32 to see OS2/Dr. Trance/Dekoze, cause I can pretty much catch them for $10 TOPS ! Actually, it was way more than $32, cause I had to travel all the way from Waterloo and back for that party.

Next thing I find out is that last shuttle bus leaves Viva at 6:30(instead of 7:30 as it was mentioned on the website). The announcement of that was made in the tent, but for some reason not in the main room. Luckily, thanks to Nikish I find out at 6:20 that the last bus leaves in 10 minutes. 20 minutes later, after slow coat check line, we see that the bus is still there(only cause it wasn't full yet) If I missed that bus, I'd probably have to pay another $15-20 to get to the subway station.

All in all, it was a pretty ty party, though I did manage to have a good time for a couple of hours(thanks to sets by OS/2, a few tracks by Dekoze and whatever I heard of Dr. Trance).

SO yeah.. there you go.
The Highroller
wow.. am i ever glad i went to Mauro.

See Desidel.. i think my predictions about Destiny are coming true :o
Mosaic
well.... it's too bad this party didn't work out.

Yes, what happened with Pulsar and Cleeton was probably out of Destiny's control, but they still should have reduced the price or something....

I think I'm gonna stick to Temporal Rhythm events at Viva, because nobody knows how to work Viva better :)
Durafei
Oh yeah, one more thing... with the "super strict" searches of Viva security, where did 20+ different dealers come from? It's been a while since I've got asked whether I want pills that many times... At one point I felt like I was at a flee market, with dealers simply shouting "Anybody wants pills???" This never happens at 19+ events or even during Viva fridays. No wonder parents/politicians think that rave companies promote drug usage. Something has to be done about this !
AmbiguousBliss
Ravers... Gone... Wild... Something about the name just didn't quite match up with what went down last night. I must say that I didn't have too bad a time because I refused to allow myself to have a bad time. It was my first time experiencing some live D'n'B, jungle and breaks - all of which I thought were really cool. The TA massive was lacking, (and you don't know how much of a big difference it makes until it's gone missing), but I did get to meet a bunch of nice non-TA's. The music was okay, and I was still able to dance like a mofo.

The line-up outside was rather pathetic, to be honest. And people being let in ahead of others because they wanted to record something on their mp3 players? Wtf?! Damnit, cell phones can be used to record stuff, as dEsidEL said. Pfft.

I was really looking forward to seeing Ed Rush & Optical spin, but we didn't even catch an hour of their set. Then the whole thing with Pulsar and Andy Cleeton not being able to make it down. Poor guys. I'm sure they must've really actually wanted to be there, but whatevs. I honestly can't remember all of which DJs' sets I managed to catch, but all in all, it was a unique musical experience.

Although I wasn't there for NYE, the fact that it wasn't as packed as I heard it was then was a relief. The number of people in the rooms would fluctuate from time to time, depending on who was spinning in what room. For the majority of the night, however, especially with the unfortunate absence of Pulsar and Ed Rush & Optical, it seemed to me that it was always most "happening" in the tent where a lot of Jungle and such was being spun. I'm not a senior citizen myself, but I too noticed that the crowd was rather young - obviously due to the whole march break factor.

dEsidEL - Em, I know it wasn't quite your bag, but you were still cool enough about it not to worsen the already 'akward' mood. Thanks for your help with the night overall. :)
Durafei - It was nice seeing you again.
GT_Trance - It was cool meeting you.
Tordan - It was cool meeting you too. :)

Did I hate the night? No, I did not. Would I relive it? No, I would not. In all honesty, the $40 price tag wasn't fair. I'm sure there was a lot of hard work put into this by the Destiny crew, and that shouldn't go un-noticed. However, my first impression of the famous 'Destiny Parties' certainly isn't what I expected. On the other hand, I have yet to be dissapointed by a Temporal Rhythm event. Those are just some thoughts of mine.
None the less, props to all the DJ's who spun last night. You guys did a good job, I'm not bashing anyone. :)
