i doubt it... the scene is moving away from hard-hitting tec-trance that ruled most of 2001 and early 2002...

In what direction do you think it's going? More towards the deep, dark sounds of progressive?

progressive doesnt mean deep and dark

when i think progressive i think something fresh and new...!

its forward-thinking!

just because something is labelled as progressive, it doesnt mean that its dark and evil!!!

so true! progressive is the most inovative genre of 4/4 branch of electronica, simply because it incorporates sooooo many different and unique sounds/samples/melodies and is not limited to the formula of strong bass, breakdowns and abundance of synths like trance for example...

when i said the scene is moving in a different direction, i meant the trance scene, not progressive... and the trance scene is moving more back towards epic/uplifting sound of the '99, which is a good thing as that was the best period ever for trance, but i doubt that can be repeated again...

Well, that's why I asked! But I completely agree with you, trance is definitely moving back to the epic sound of 99.

But taking into account the scene as a whole, I think major things are going to happen in the next few years. Most of the top DJ are well into their mid to late 30's. At the same time, there are soo many new and young artists there are just starting to bud through, in all the genres. I predict that with all this new talent, there is going to be a breakthrough of electronica in North America.

It's going to be good bye to Tenaglia, Oakenfold, Digweed, etc. and hello to the era of Holden, Zabiela, Halliwell, Hardwick and O'Bir, etc. DISCLAIMER: These were just some examples of the possible many that I popped off of the top of my head!!!

Flame me if you must, but that is just my opinion...

Your right, a new generation of DJS will be taking over BUT at the same time guys like John Digweed or Danny Tenaglia or whomever will always be around. One of the reasons they are still so huge to this day are that they have been able to change and adapt with the times and they still seem to be two steps ahead of everyone else. As long as a DJ continues to progress and isnt playing old, tired and dated music, people will still give them respect and they'll still go out to see them. Guys like John Digweed/Sasha/Tenaglia/whomever dont FOLLOW trends, they SET THEM for others to follow and thats why they'll be around for a LONG time. Anyways, in the end music is music and it doesnt really matter who is or isnt playing it, or how old the person that is playing it is.
