| First of all, how are you going to tell all reporters to leave Baghdad and then send Matt Lauer of the Today show basically right outside of Baghdad. DUMB!!! Then you are going to tell US's plans of how they are going to fight this war when you know damn well Saddam Insane is tuning in. My opinion is to just tell the people yes we are going to war and yes it has started. I mean they bull us anyway and barely tell us anything good all they do is help Iraq out by telling them what the US will do. War is more of a propaganda issue and a media issue more than an actual war. Whatever happened to the good ole fashioned fighting? |

| I totally agree with this statement. The US news media gives out way to much information, the US people dont need to know how we are fighting the war, but that it is being fought. By broadcasting this information on how we are planning to fight the war, we are only giving the enemy valueable information that they can use. |

| The almighty US is trying to scare them by saying what they are going to do. |

or maybe it didn't occur to you that there is a lot more to the US strategy that the media can't share or doesn't know.
as to sending the reporters out of bagdhad, it was my udnerstanding that journalists were told to leave two days ago but could stay if they chose to.
my opinion: journalists are insane. |

| i absolutely agree..the news is definatley saying a little too much. i'm sure they're not saying everything but there definately saying enough..i know the news is just keeping us up to par and what i mean by us is the citizens of the US but at the same time our enemies are being in formed too. i like being kept up to date but i'd rather know that our info is for OUR ears only and not the people who are trying to destroy us! i hope that this is not going to effect our outcome in this war, hopefully we will outsmart our nations enemies with carefully strategized attacks. |

do you have an idea how many "on the scene" journalists die every year to the extent that it's become a stat in the profession?
Obviously you don't, and you even less seem to comprehend that these people are dedicated, and the way you are acting shows one and only one thing : criticism of every single move they make. Off course I don't know how you are on a day to day basis with your point of views on the media, be it the press, radio, or television, but most of these people are genuinely dedicated, but they also have to respond to timely needs from their Agencies back home.
If you're not happy with what is being played on nationwide commercialy oriented newsgroups, tune in to NPR ( check out www.npr.org for a frequency in your area ) they seem to also work things out better then the big groups, cause they make sure the info is right before it gets reported, and it's not politically tinted the way it is presented to you.
and also a quick reminder, what's being presented to you, comes after years of accumulation from the press groups required to offer more scandalist and reality news ....
and lastly, this has been happening for years, and it involves all countries, even if the reality news idea really emerged from cnn then again it predated that channels start. |

Listen no one is disputing the journalists dedication...we all appreciate what they are doing-well at least i do i can't speak for everyone else, but all i'm saying is i hope that our enemies DO NOT use our news against us as one of our weaknesses..have you ever heard the saying "don't let the cat out of the bag"?? don't get me wrong i myself am glued to the television and internet over this..all i'm saying is i'm afraid our enemies are too!! |

hehe the media doesn't give us too much info or they'd get in trouble ;) lotsa classified things
and they can't really learn crap from the tv, they've got spies and radars and every piece of equipment necessary to gather info already :p
but yeah it's true the media goes a little crazy .... like having the media on the beach filming the military as they are entering a country to invade it ( this happened couple years back forget which conflict it was for ) |

no superpower is that confident that they would reveal their ENTIRE strategy on tv while the enemy's startegy is virtually unknown.
already things have not happened as planned.
and Iraqi intelligence already knows what the states are going to try to do
there's no way iraq could have the upper hand in this conflict thanks to US news media |

| The news media gives out this information because they hate America and they hate democracy. They don't care if 100 US troops die because they said the exact time and place they were located. They don't give a , all they care about is getting their ing story so that they can be the top dog news reporter. These reporters should be tried for treason. I would like to see what would happen if they reported like this in WW2. They would have been shot. |

well i do agree that the biggest thing they care about is getting the story and the money, but i wouldnt go as far as to call them evil and that they don't give a .
anyway, having the news media cover every little thing is a good thing for the US military because they feed the media a bunch of lies and half truths to make them follow the wrong things and report the wrong information so iraqi's get the wrong information and don't know what the americans are really up to.
thats what happend during the gulf war.
and right now the media is saying that all the plans are changing, so im guessing that they are starting to catch on.
i wouldnt worry too much though about the media spilling american military plans that would help the iraqis.
also, anyone notice how watching the war on tv is sorta like watching an american football game.
you got guys using the electric pens to draw out troop movements on a map of iraq.
they have animations of all the american weapons and stats for them.
i even saw on MSNBC they have a war room where they can walk on a huge map of Iraq and point out differnet stuff with long pointers and have big figurines to represent troops and such.
i'm waiting for madden to cut in and be like
"ARE WE READY FOR A GOOD DAY OF WAR!!?" |
