The Israeli Prime Minister was convicted of killing thousands of innocent Palestinian people, does that wanna make u change the Israeli flag.
The American Gov't has been responsible for killing millions of Iraqi children over the past 10 years, due to the trade embargo on Iraq. Does that make the American people wanna change their flag. ?? |

Dud your out of it. As I stated before I could care less if they change the flag; the argument is this however: The baath party changed the flag when they came to power in 1963 - so it might be considered the flag of the baath party, as it has known no other association. On this note, once the Baath party comes out of party, one might want to disassociate this association.
Is that such a hard argument to understand? And furthermore don't you believe it should be up to the Iraqi people wether they want to change it or not? I think it is up to them, not you, not me. I think it is very "imperialistic" of you to say (or imply) they have to keep it one way or the other. |

its rediculous to even mention a FLAG change.. dont YOU tihnk that that would be demeaning to the people to even assume that they would want one?

Yoepus isn't even coming close to SAYING that there should be flag change! Read his post carefully before you all get up in arms to critisize him. He's replying to my statement that the only time that a flag could be considered offensive if it was constructed out of hatrid, racism, etc. I used the nazi flag for an example which portrayed the swastika as a symbol of Aryan superiority.
Yoepus then commented that the new Iraqi flag COULD (not for certain) be considered as a symbol of hatred and such since it was implemented at the time of Saddam's rise to power. That it was a reflection of Saddam's oppressive Baath party as opposed to a reflection of the Iraqi people. Therefore giving justification to the point that a flag change would not be unwarranted if the Iraqi people so desired. There's no disrespect in his argument at all. |

hrmm i do find it disrespectful since its a symbolism of the flags history and culture... there is nothing obscene or derrogatory about the flag and IT DOES represent the iraqi people..
its ridiculous to even mention a flag change.. it would be up to the people to decide that.. unless an Iraqi comes here into the board and claims that he would like a flag change.. the topic should not even be brought up again.. since it is a very disrespectful subject and ridiculous to even mention! |

| Melech.. changing the flag means changing the culture also. If the USA even thinks about it, I'll throw up so bad!!!!!!!!PUKEEE!!!! will really make me seek... The USA has no right to go into other countries and changing their way of living and cultures in which they were raised on.. I think the US wants it all just one color..imagine the US going to ISRAEL and changing your ways of life.. saying that you guys shouldnt walk on fridays .. and realize that it's bad for woamn( stupid statement there) but it's something similar that you want the US to do IN other countries, culture, and among that it's the FLAG:whip: |

| Why is everybody speculating and getting so upset over something that hasn't even happend yet? :conf: Why don't we retire this thread until it DOES happen. Otherwise we're all wasting our breath arguing over this silly issue which probably WON'T happen hehe. |

lol the point is that it is a silly issue and i dont even know why its being brought up
i understand what yoepus is saying.. well it would be up to the people then to decide whether there should be a flag change or not |
