Powerful music in a movie scene

Just name a time that you were watching a movie in its most incredible scene that is assisted greatly by the soundtrack. I may be a lord of the rings addict, soo here goes:
1. The music in fellowship of the ring where Gandalf "falls into darkness." i thought the transition of the music from running away from the balrog was intense, and only to see Gandalf fall (which is almost like a father to frodo), along with the music, which featured a young boys voice singing, OMG. Most powerful movie scene i ever seen (rhyme?)
2. Two Towers when gandalf leads the rohiran (spelling) down the mountain slope. And when it got all bright, the music was SO powerful and UPLIFTING. it was GREAT!!!!
3. The whole movie of BlackHawk Down. simply AMAZING

| Hmmmm yeah LOTR was tight, both movies had a great score to accompany. Another good one I can think of is 2001: A Space Odyssey, when the head scientist guy is on the space ship going to the moon; music matched the beauty and delicateness of the shuttle's journey perfectly. Also, for more recent ones, I dug the score to The Bourne Identity; though the movie itself left something ot be desired, the music accompaniment to some scenes was pretty good. The Solaris score is amazing too; in the one scene of Clooney's flashback to where he first met Natascha McElhone's character, the music just created the right tension needed in the atmosphere of that scene. |

| I'd say everything from Requiem for a Dream. The music is just as grim as the movie, and succeeds in creating the most somber atmosphere ever. |

The ultimate is when Barber's Adagio for strings is playing as William Dafoe gets shot in the back in Platoon

I totally agree. I think that movie is a perfect example for this thread as well. Vangelis did an amazing job with that soundtrack, allowing some of the movies moments to transcend. Good examples are when Harrison Ford is having a dream about a Unicorn running through the woods, and once the mythical creature comes into view, the music becomes absolutely Euphoric.
The other scene that really stuck out in my mind was when the final android dies. He goes on to talk about all the amazing things he had seen in his short life, and then went on to say "All these moments lost, like tears in rain." I don't know why but the music at that scene was just absolutely perfect as well.
Anyone who has never seen that movie definitely should. After watching it, I was inspired to get the soundtrack as well! |

The main theme gets stuck with me, but the song I like the best is that really tight track that plays early on when their making the huge deals, and then later when they are in the shopping center about to buy the Horoine. |
