Depending on what it's like 2 weeks from now, i'll go to these parties, but i think i might take the extra procautions, and where a mask.

I agree. Parties are breeding grounds for sickness. Where else in life are you around 1000 other people, sweating, hacking, spiting, smoking, coughing, etc????

No matter what it is like in 2 weeks, I'm bringing a bottle of Purell to every party for now on - and I'm going to use it every hour or so on my hands, and wash my face every few hours in the sink.

I know for a fact I caught a bug @ Corsten and it was beats for like 2 weeks. I don't want that again, and I sure as hell don't want corona-like virii (SARS).

Purell is one of the best inventions known to man AFAIK!.. ;)

And N-95 masks??? Good idea. If things get crazy I'll wear one. The N-95 even filters out antrax! Woo ha!

UPDATE:

If anybody is going to buy masks, buy the N-100 masks (not the N-95)....

The N-95 have 95% filtration efficiency.

The N-100 have and efficiency of 99.97%, making it one of NIOSH's highest-rated filters.

FYI - The N-100s are $8 US each and the N-95 are $2 US each.

When I first heard about SARS, I was like "meh". But over the last week or two, I've been thinking about it more and more. I'm still UNDECIDED but you could be playing with life and death here.

Have there been any cases in Markham, where VIVA is? I heard on CBC that there is a SARS clinic that just opened there. If that is so, that...I'll scalp my ticket. Watch PVD cancel anyway.

scary story today at work, one of my buddies came down with like a super fever and couldn't breath and he said his head was spinning. this all happened in like 1 minute.

i went to the washroom and saw that he was having trouble breathing,
anyways, his mom said that his granddad was sick and he is in the hospital.

yeah, ok, this sounds like what i had... EXACTLY! :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop:

crazy fever, massive-bad bronchial cough too, only able to breath in short intakes, and UBER dizzy whenever i stood up. holy e. o.o i still don't think it's sars, but another really bad virus going around, cuz i got these symptoms march 10th/11th.

by any chance is your friend friends with any ravers that went to Brain Basher? or came into contact with a candy kid? lol, i know it sounds lame, but i think that's where i originally picked it up. it didn't help that a really bad pill killed my immune system  almost recovered from it now... 3 weeks later :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

make sure your friend gets a lot of rest, drink lots of oj, and tylenol did wonders for sleeping for me. also, vicks 44d cough syrup supressed my cough nicely for a good 4-5 hours at a time. for me, took me about a week to lose the fever and the dizziness, the cough longer. see that he gets prescribed zythromax or something, that helped HUGE.

that's my advice, sounds like what i had exactly.

this sars thingie, along with other things, is freaking me out! :nervous:  :conf: :nervous:

Great article Itikia. From the sounds of it this is basically just a nasty flu bug. People are treating it like it is certain death and that you can get it by simply going outside. GET A BLOODY GRIP TORONTO!

Health Canada - the only source i'd trust for Info - reports 4 deaths. "The majority of those with severe illness or deaths have occurred in elderly patients with underlying illness."

The bottom line is people should always be weary of viruses and the such. Wash your hands and face regularly (I mean DUH!), Don't share water bottles at clubs (DUH again), and only swap spit with people you really want to (mmm).

AAAAACHOOOOOOOOOOO!

yeah, exactly as, common cold gone psycho. i probably had it. first case in kitchener, woo!

Um....

Scarborough Grace is about 5 km from Markham. Scarb. Grace is the Canadian epicenter of this outbreak.

York General (in Richmond Hill) is less than 15 km from Markham. York General has recently been closed due to a SARS case.

Most people at these hospitals are from Markham or North Scarborough.

Ah, really? Sorry man, I don't know Toronto that well other than downtown. So Markham is basically right in the then eh?

Guess I'll have to think really hard about this one.

Guys, honestly, stop being so paranoid.

Okay, I can understand that people might want to stay home IF we hear about serious epidemics in the next few weeks.

But you people are just making wild (and in some cases, blatantly incorrect) assumptions about how rampant it is. Health Canada says 44 people in Ontario AND British Columbia? Do0d I come into contact with more than 44 people in one day! This number is NOT huge considering how big and crowded Toronto is. I don't know the population of Markham offhand but I can decisively say that the place is crammed with people, and not a huge number of them have caught it.

Like I said, the nurses told my sister in law not to worry about it, even though her kids were in direct contact with someone else who was around an infectee.

You want to wait and see if there's an outbreak then fine, wait and see, I can respect that. But don't spout this bull about Markham being "right in the " or "too close to the action." This is just pure unfounded paranoia. There are 3 prisons in Kingston but we don't sit around and worry about escaped convicts shooting people up on the streets.

GET A GRIP! Enough of this speculation about people breaking their quarrantines or whatever. If you're afraid to take ANY risk then that's fine, that's your right to choose, but please don't try to pass your fear off as sound logic!

Sheesh, I'm more worried about getting emphysema from all the cigarette and pot smoke in clubs than I am about SARS...

Took a big Risk today (if u can call it that). I went to China Town to buy me some CD-Rs and some CD binders (ons special that were NOt in stock:whip: ). I am happy to report even of going to work after and not feeling bad or anything (as we speak 12 hours later) I am FINE. I am seriouslyt starting to think that this is starting to become a bigger hype that normal. My damn TTC streetcar driver was wearing a medical glove to give out transfers. AS IF PPL TOUCH HER ING HAND TO TAKE THEM! Her eis my Report. Any one else Brave to come with me another day this week? ( I want the damn Binders:stongue: )

By the Way RJ I am getting a pre-order on Chem. Suits. Gonna make a Parody Site tommorow morning or 2nite if I can't sleep about purchasing items like that:stongue:

Well DigiNut....whatever man but health is a serious concern (yeah I smoke but at least it can't kill you within a day or so! :p )

I voted for Undecided but I'm most likely going to go. If the number of cases, for some unknown reason at this time, shoots up in the hundres all across Toronto and reaches London where I am, then I probably won't go. But as of now, I'm going but I'm just going to keep an eye on things.

I still think there is a BIG chance that PVD could cancel any time over this health concern. I hope he shows up wearing a mask...that'll be funny.

TheDemon
Undecided. This is pretty important. My health means more to me than seeing some guy spin music if i feel my health is under risk.
