My computer of 6yrs died yesterday...

we've been through a lot... so many program upgrades, RAM stick replacements... graphics card swaps and a universe of music and work.

did i backup my files?

hell yea i said i would didnt i?
no. no i didnt.

problem: computer with all of my completed projects and projects in progress is dead.

task: retreive said information. (it was stored on a secondary internal hard-drive.

summary of request: I need to find a way to get information from an internal hard-drive onto another computer. (am willing to remove/hax)

love,
will

ps what kind of laptop workstation should i look at?

What exactly died in the computer? Could just be the PSU or something.

penn state university?

I dont know what died.

when i hit power, it sounds like its working, but the monitor light doesnt turn from orange (standby) to green (receiving signal).

thevideo card is working fine.

the mouse and keyboard's lights flash sporadically .

we had a big storm with a power outage the other day. im thinking that that was the straw that broke the camel's back... some electrical problem perhaps? it def wasnt spyware/virus

i hate typing on laptosp. the keys are so mushy!

Sounds like the motherboard or the PSU was fried. Your hard drive is probably fine, just need to set it into another computer.

thank god.

ok thanks...

i never said i was amazing at composing but theres something about losing 75% of the last few years thats just a little disturbing

exactly.
or get another Power Supply Unit.

Sounds like the motherboard. If you say it 'sounds' like its working, then that may be the PSU powered-up and operational.

The hard drive should be fine :)

throw your comp out of the window or beat the out of it with a bat, make sure someone is recording. post the vid on break.com and you'll get $400. add that to somewhere around $600 and get a new pc or laptop.

keep the HD
superglo
Faulty PSU
Fried m-board
