quote:
Sitting in judgment was a jury of 12 members of Mr. Jones’s church, the Dove World Outreach Center . After listening to arguments from both sides, the jury pronounced the Koran guilty of five “crimes against humanity,” including the promotion of terrorist acts and “the death, rape and torture of people worldwide whose only crime is not being of the Islamic faith.”

because of this issue,

KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghans protesting the burning of a Quran at a small Florida church stormed a U.N. compound in northern Afghanistan on Friday and killed at least seven international staff. At least four protesters were also killed.

and

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — At least 10 people have been killed and 83 wounded in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar, officials said on Saturday, on a second day of violent protests over the burning of a Quran by a radical fundamentalist Christian in the United States.

The guy who burned the Quran should be charged with the murders committed by people protesting the burning of said Quran? Read that again...

there are two things that actually grind my gears

1) that this guy and his church is even getting news time. they're a tiny little radical group that should not be representing the majority of America. but the news points them out and makes them and their shennanigans in the spot light.

2) that there are people halfway around the world who see their shennenigans and turn straight to violence. it's one thing to protest, but to go straight to violence, that's just awful.

it makes me wonder if the opposite what would happen...say a small radical group of extremists in Afghanistan put a video of burning the Bible...would Christians go over to a mosque and set it on fire and try to kill people? of course not! hell, even the westboro baptists and all their stupid ass haven't killed anyone.

the whole situation is upsetting to me.

Yeah. This pisses me off, too. Really wish I could set that straight.

People are complaining about a guy burning a book when there were 14 people murdered because of it? That doesn't seem a little backward to you?

Yeah reading it back I realise I made no ing sense.

I feel that he should be punished. He knew what was going to happen if he was to go ahead with it, and yet he did it anyway. Although he didn't commit the murder, he was the cause of it.

this is the only solution i can think of....

That is completely ridiculous. Saying that he was the cause of these murders is like saying the Jews were the cause of the Holocaust.

You think it's acceptable for the people in Afghanistan to think "Hmm, he burned our sacred text, so we should probably go kill a bunch of people."

As sad as it is to say this, they're kind of proving his point...

"Killing people whose only crime is not being of the Islamic faith." This is cold-blooded murder of innocent individuals because of something completely unrelated that happened across the world. The people who were murdered weren't even all Americans. Blaming the guy from Florida is tantamount to justifying those murders.

Just to say, there are conflicting reports as to whether ISAF or the Protesters shot first.

But still, bringing a gun to a protest shows at least some violent intent.
