Don't worry, guys.
As someone already stated, trance (and really, electronic music in general) is part of an entire culture. If it starts to become polluted with Gino culture and corporate rule, a new sect will eventually break off and move underground again - it's already happened in some places with the emergence of psytrance.
Sure, we may occasionally see pop culture invading the electronic events, especially at big clubs like the Guvernment, but that's really only to "check out da hot girlzz." There will always be more hos to chop at the Gino clubs, no matter how mainstream electronic music becomes. |

here is what one of my hip hop loving friend's who has his own promotion company told me once: "you love trance cos its unpopular and associate with it to be different but you keep saying u want to get trance out there and expose it to more people???why would u want to do that and make it commercial??"
very intelligent perspective...after he told me that it struck me that the reality of our passion is the fact taht we embrace non conformity (music and style in our case) and should keep it like that |

^^^^ Yeah, it's weird for sure... seems like Hamilton is more of a d'n'b town - rather surprising!
Actually I went with a very good friend of mine (who goes to McMac) to see Aphrodite at some club in Hamilton a while back (forgot the name). And yet I doubt they get any trance stars like that.. :(
|
Yes, that was crazy that Aphrodite played in Hamilton! He's like the Armin van Buuren of DnB no? Was that at Home nightclub?
Another thing. People in Hamilton should post on TA when events are happening..There's stuff happening but being a part of the campus culture I feel divorced from the rest of the city. In recent weeks Jelo and Deko-ze both spun in hamilton and I only found out on flyers after the fact!! , that would've been convenient. |

For Aphrodite, I would make the trip to Hamilton any day! Please don't tell me Roni Size has spun there too!
I agree, for events that big I want to hear about it! This is a forum for all Ontario! |

Wicked...I've never heard of any of those djs...but that's mostly the copper lounge. Have you been to that place? I've been a couple times and it's pretty cool. The atmosphere is wicked, it's all hardwood floor with a total chilled out copper ambience...and there's all sorts of couches that resemble beds..pretty cool. I really like it. One problem...the crowd. I have never seen anyplace erupt into such a gino fest. I went one time and all these people were throwing cushions around and acting retarded...noone was really there for the music and noone was even dancing. THe music is all house which is wicked...so I'd still go back, but only with a group of people who are there to enjoy music with me..any maybe even dance! |

Hehe, glad I'm not the only one who doesn't know who those DJ's are. Well, I actually have heard of Eric Davenport from somewhere, and I've got a magazine article on Hatiras, which is how I found out about him.
Anyway, I've never actually been to Copper Lounge. I'm only ever in Hamilton to see a couple of family members, which isn't often at all. It sounds like a pretty cool place.
As far as the crowd goes - it's Hamilton. :) I've always known Hamilton as having a lot of ginos. As you mentioned, they don't often seem like they're in a club for the music. And to dance? Hehe...
None the less, I'm sure it would be a good place to hit up with some TA's. We could turn that place upside down with the vibe we create. ;) |

I totally agree. As much as I wanted to get out of Hamilton, I'll be working here for the next 2 years probably:eek: So I"ll have to take advantage. (But hey, TO aint that far away, so I"m happy with that) There's some stuff going on, and the scene needs to be supported. If you or anybody is interested in checking out Copper Lounge on Saturday...post! |
