Looking for a "Clubbing" digital camera!

So here's the scoop. I have a great digital camera that has tons of features etc. and it is awesome. But I HATE taking it to clubs, parties, raves etc. with me.

So I am looking for a new camera that is small, compact, durable, and takes great flash and low light pictures. Anyone have any suggestions?

I am currently looking at the Sony CyberShot U20

Thanks!

I've been wanting a digital cam for a long long time.....

I have a bunch of canon EF lenses, so the logical choice would be a cannon digital slr. Alas, the cheapest new ones go for 1500 dollars...

:( :sadgreen: :( :sadgreen: :(

I had a friend who lost his camera once when we were seeing some dj(i forgot who) and he went crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!! be careful

I would go with a manufacturer thats known for making good cameras. Sony isn't one of them im afraid. At least not the Cybershot U.

I would go with Konica Revio KD-400Z or Nikon Coolpix 4300
Both have good flashes.
The thing with these two is that they are quite big.

Maybe Cybershot U is a good choice anyhow. :)

Both cameras are in the pricerange of $500.

But as far as I know Coolpix 4300 limits you to the modes that are on it out of the box...it doesnt have a shutter priority(that's what you need for those night/low light shots) or an aperture priority setting which sucks! It is a great camera nontheless though
I wanna buy coolpix 5700, but it's pretty espensive! Donno if you are willing to spend that much on a digi cam

PS. I doubt you will find any useful opinions here simply because not alot of people know alot about photography/cameras, so I suggest you check out www.dpreview.com

coolpix 3500 is a great cam... i wanna get that for the fact that it makes it easy to take a picture with a dj/fellow TA or clubber...that's thanks to it's swiveling lense.

my roommate works for a company that is making small digicams.. i think logitech is selling them right now. they should be about the thickness of 2-3 CC's and same footprint..

this summer they will have a flash model.

I've got a Nikon Coolpix 2000. Multiple light sensitivity settings, very good at close photos in dark environments. The camera is about 10 cm across and 2.5 wide and light.
Only problems:-
Photos in dark environments at a greater distance than 5 metres just dont come out - they may do with an external, more powerful flash attached.

You need a steady hand to take the photos, but this is the case with most digital cameras.

I was looking at the Canon Digital Elph series for the same reason of taking club pics. They are very small and thin and easy to fit in yer pocket or whatever.
If youre going to be taking indoor pics youll want to make sure to get a digicam with the equivalent of 400 speed film. I dont know the exact term offhand but you get the idea. The only bad thing I heard about the elph cameras was that they didnt have a very bright flash. But that would be attributed to the small size. You may have to make some sacrifices I guess.

But before you decide to buy something for sure, go online and check out prices! I was looking at Best Buy and they sold a camera for $399 and I saw it online for only $329. It pays to shop around. Go to a website that shows you the price of the camera that many different online retailers sell it for. You would be amazed between the differences of prices that different people charge. :)
