being open minded is the way to go
so lets just say i like pvd as much as i like derrick carter and i like tiesto as much as i like mark farina

and for the locals i like preach just as much as i love maus ( sat nite she broke my legs) and i like marco g as much as i like fred everything

Long live Electronic Music!

guess im a double personality dj like miss b and barbara brown :D

in the end: House music: its a spiritual thing
: trance: its a state of mind

trance is not dead.

People talk about other forms of music because obviously they have to fill the gaps between the trance events if they want to carry on with partying.

I think its actually prog music who's going down big time worldwide.

Also taste changes over time.

If trance was dead, this board would be.

i wouldnt say trance is dead... i think it depends on where you live. but yea... peoples taste always change... but for me, im pretty much open minded about the type of music i listen to when it comes to Electronic music... but i prefer trance over anything else... the hard stuff is good too...esp. when you are ed up(drunk or on drugs..lol).
Dj Nacht
Trance can never die it has allready taken over and it wont be leaving.

trance isnt dying, its cheesifying!!!

the more and more i listen to trance the cheesier it gets, sounding more and more like laser quest
of course theres good trance which i love but i don't like trance for that reason it's cause its becoming cheesy!
i'm more into house and personnalyy never heard any cheesy house tracks...well actually maybe 2 or 3 max but thats it
anyways house is just so funky and happy
good trance is dying, the cheese is taking over!
ahlamalek
bhahahaa dude, no cheeze house?!?!? there's plenty of it don't worry :)

in the early 90's they said house was dying, last i checked it's still around. I hate to mention the following horrid music genre but it proves a point, in 1996 they said gabber was dead (I think it is and should be but that's another point) but it's still around. Music does not die, it just goes underground or reforms into something else.
HouseAddict
of course theres cheesy house like all the crap they play at dome like maddhouse and all that garbage but its rare to hear like cheese by known house dj's unlike trance where lots of time i heard cheese by good trancy dj's which i won't say not to get beat on :D

hey, come on guys, this is kinda silly. that's like saying that classical music died at one point. i'm sure at one point some of strauss' critics were saying that no one would be listening to him outside of a viennese banquet, and not beyond a few years.

'fashions fade, but style never dies.'

no musical style will die. get out of fashion? of course! but if something brings about emotions of rapture and happiness and emollience, then it can't really die, can it? especially if it's had the kind of effect that trance has had. it's a lasting impression that i'm afraid certain other styles just don't have. they may be fashionable, but not stylish. :thepirate

in any case, i came down to montreal on thursday. i saw 2000 sweating bodies grinding against each other and screaming at every break in the music when pvd spun.

at this rate, i don't even think i can say that trance is out of fashion, let alone dead.

people listen to me please.

is trance dead ?

-hell no : Trance DJs are leading the jocks charts , big huge massive events are mostly about trance , trance DJs headlining parties and spinning every week-end , more and more people into the scene , collaboration with pop and other artists , huge salaries for DJS , world-wide recognition , etc ...

-hell yes : "destroy she said" , Push fake live acts , PvD attitude , "song for the ocean" , some DJs trying other genres in their sets (some because they like doing it and some because of the lack of good trance) , "nu-nrgcheese" , and i can go on till tomorrow morning ...

it's true my tastes have been changing a lot these months , hell i've been listening to techno non stop when i was in morocco last time and as i'm writing this post i'm enjoying a good huse tune , but trance is my all time love and i can't ditch it this way , it saddens me when i see the quality and the low level it has reached these days , i know there will be some great stuff this year but i doubt it's gonna be enough to make it legendary ...

then again i never felt so good in my life as much as when i heard Universal Nation when Tall Paul played it during his january set , i couldn't stop myself from going to the dancefloor and actually i got so emotional like if i was about to cry my ass off ...

like the poster on Mulder's office in X-Files says : I WANT TO BELIEVE ... in Trance Again

mmmm it's all about the progressive! :D

i mean... u know pvd was soo 6 years ago, way back when i started going to raves, going through my genre of music listening to cream 98 and ministry of sound cd's, then switching to hard house, drum N base, NuNrg, Jungle, break beatz and back to progressive trance and now progressive house and break beatz!

I will always love PVD but he's gotta change his style! for an angel was 6 years ago!

I respect the dj's who stick to their genre of music but, geez, change is a good thing too!

respect for sasha & digweed for flowing w/ the breakz! booyah~
