just spoken to neo, brace urselves for bad news.

the guys at halycon took a look in here, saw the arguments of previous weeks (i.e. the fray pm incident and the sillyness that incurred) and said that it looks like a bunch of school kids were organising it.. to cut a long story short we don't have a venue in sheffield which is momentously gash, mainly due to the way in which things were carried out by certain people (thanks fray)

on the other hand, we may have a venue in blackpool. a bit far i know but its a venue, and i think its quite a bit bigger. neo is going to blackpool on friday anyway, so he is going to have a word with the people at this place to see what he can do. i think we are cutting it mighty fine with the promotion with this, but if all goes to plan, if we can get a straight yes or no on friday night, how long would it take to have the flyers out? neo said that gibbo mentioned it would only take a couple of days, if this is true (and they work on saturdays) then we could have the flyers by tuesday. i think this is the very latest we can leave it.

as far as the line-up on the flyers, its not looking good for a big name as all the people we have tried are not allowed to do it by their agents etc etc.. so i say just put me, luke, dave and neo on the flyers, + others tbc. the others tbc would most likely be gibbo, jay, or both, depending on what kind of hours we can get in this place..

bugger....

who lives near blackpool to do spamming with flyer duties a week in advance? its just that bit to far for me to go and spam, unless we get there early on the day and spam through out the day, any idea on a date? and whats the score with equipment there? are sound of eden gonna wonder why sheffield fell through or can they be sweet talked?

tbh, its cuttin it far too fine now, pick summat for august so it can be done properly and where its more accessible rather than blackpool, sheffield + leeds are good, esp with neo away its all gone to pot really.

either way soe aint gonna be happy, if we are gonna do it, we mite aswell do it properly and not just a rush job imo
Fairy Liquid
whos soe?? i agree tho i think a date in august wud b better....now its got so late and a venue change its not gonna b nearly enuf time to get a good crowd, especially with it being in blackpool.....u shud aim for manchester, sheff or leeds if poss...i know sum of my m8s who ran a hard house nite of their own called toast in town warmed up vision last weekend sumwhere in manc....cant rememba where but ill find out..u need to get definate venue confirmed then we can all systems go with a few weeks to dish flyers out...i rekon w8ing a bit longer is better too espesh with that passion line up, the fact gg is the week after too, so ppl will more than likely not going

tbf if you're gonna move the date back move it to October.. 'WHAT!?' I hear you cry........ for this reason : The Unis have closed up for the summer and all the students are gonna be going home over the next month..... No students = No punters = Bad for us.

However in October a whole new batch of freshers will be starting jsut dieing to blow their student loans n go partying. I think it's no coincidence Gods/ GC birthday are late september.

some problems :p

1) we are restricted to where we can get a venue for free.. this means taking what is given to us really :(

2) im sick to the back teeth of moving dates back lol.. this was originally planned for february, its now june and we still have 3 weeks to promote..? :)

3) will sound of eden be happy with us moving dates again? and/or are they happy going to blackpool? to be fair this place in blackpool (if its the place i am thinking) is a damn good venue.. the only problem with it is that people that we want there (i.e. mates) probably wont be able to get there easily. but we can do a toby, and tell them that if they dont come then they arnt our friends :p

4) even if we leave it til october, we still aint gunna get any name that is going to get ppl in on the lineup.. so is it really worth waiting?

5) sam: passion :p:) i really dont care who is playing elsewhere, part of the reason we havent already done this night is because of other line-ups at other clubs.. its time that we didnt give a about it ;)

IMO we aint gonna lose anything if we dont get so many people in as we havent payed anything for it.. so why not do one now if we can, then do another in october/november if all goes to plan? we would probably be able to get a venue in a more accessible place by then too. and if all goes incredibly well, then we could have two venues and interchange frequently :p:) that might be wishful thinkin tho :stongue:

Well im with jeff. We have held events in my home town in a small venue, gettin about 150 people in. Usually give it about 2 weeks for advertising it.

Most of the people who go will be, well us lot. The only disadvantage is we cant spread the word in blackpool as easily. And im sure sheffield would have got people coming coz they have heard rumours from mates.

Anyway i think we should try and stick with the date. Get the expereince of one event, and then really work on another.

Coz im realy starting to think if we dont do it soon it just wont happen.

So organisers, make it happen, and we will support it. Bring mates etc. If everyone brings like 3 mates thats a lot of people.

So im sure we can get a decent crowd :D

I say move the date to a weekend when I'm in the country :P

Also, has anyone considered hosting it down in Brum?
Kinuvan
fair enough, only throwing idas in the pot.... if it's in Blackpool you negate the problem of students neway cos you get people on their hols... and a it's a place people go to for nights out (no, I don't know why either:p )

I'm maybe getting sidetracked by the commerciality of this venture.... lets just go have fun :p
