dj sammy, you gotta respect this guy, hes all about the money and thats what we call a go-getter, he does not promote drugs so hes pretty much parentally approved, he also has a way with the masses, no other dj can put out sounds like heavan and make it on the billboards 100 singles chart, and i cant remember the last time people verbally attacked him? can you?
elena
maybe
but popular doesnt = respected
budahbro
okay sorry, that was suppose to be a crack at dj sammy, but obviously its not apparent, sorry for not making that clear

I would have to say Sasha, in terms of the general concensus. He's contributed a ton to the scene, and most people respect his remarkable production and DJ skills. I certainly do.

Personally I would say Paul van Dyk, though I know that's not the greater opinion. He's not as musically distinguished as Sasha, but there are other reasons that I respect him as a figurehead for the scene.

yeh, sasha's the man :P
every production, remix and album of his just reeks of ing quality, not to mention his dj skills.
Dj Smitty20
hmmm.....I'd have to say....well....I respect Tiesto, Armin, Ferry, PvD and Matt Darey the most. Incidentally, those are my top 5 Dj's as well.:p

Oh....and what's all this Sasha talk? The only good tune I've ever heard from him was Xpander and that's not something to make me cream in my pants.

Funny coz I was going to reply Sasha when I saw the thread title.

Whatever people think of him as a DJ/Producer I don't think I've ever seen anybody attacking his integrity.

DJ Smitty20, It's all very well Tiesto or PvD being your favorite but I don't think you can argue that either of them are the most respected in the industry, regardless of whether they are "the best".

Do you think he's the most respected DJ/Producer in the industry? Armin, Tiesto, Corsten, etc. all have their haters, but who doesn't atleast respect Sasha?

i dont.

he's welsh.

this thread only makes sense when one says which DJ he PERSONALLY respects the most. And for me PVD and Tiesto are both up there. Regardless of my music taste I can tell that they're really in love with what they're doing. Tiesto having an emotional outbreak @ Innercity 99 (his breakthrough) or the way he enjoyed himself and shared his passion with 250000 ppl 2 weeks ago. PVD being the modest, professional musical pioneer he is, having the guts to make political statements, support other artists etc. etc. Now as for Sasha...I really LOVE what he's done so far as a musician and Dj but on a personal level I dont know too much to be able to particularly *respect* him. Rejecting offers to remix tracks doesn't count that much for me. Having the guts to release a totally anti-mainstream, almost ambient album, however, shows indeed a bit of "integrity". I guess I'll have to see him life once.

i don't feel one way or the other about sasha, i've never been into his music, but i can't say i've heard anybody that HATES chicane, and chicane is the artist i respect the most
