ever get that thing where you have a burning desire to have something (or someone) and then after you've had it, it just loses all interest to you?

once i wanted a fish. it died, and i didn't want it anymore.

It must be an unconscience human behavior...We always want what we can have and then when we get it suddenly its not as exciting as the chase.

This guy was running after one of my friends for months, but couldnt have her cause she had a BF..well anyways one day they started seeing each other after she dumped her BF and now he suddenly doent have time for her and they see each other about every 2 weeks:conf:

You really have a lot of time to spare at werk :p

As for the question, happens all the time... Maybe because we put too much value on these things, and realize they don't bring as much joy as we would have expected when we get them.

People thend to over-rate things they don't have..

Or again it could be caused by the challenge of having your ego threatened if you don't eventually reach your goal, but when you do and take it for granted, you loose the insecurity and it doesnt mean as much for you

Just a theory :tongue3

grass is always greener on the other side of the fence as they say.

reminds me of a Nine Inch Nails song:

Something I can never have

quote:

I still recall the taste of my tears.
echoing your voice just like the ringing in my ears.
my favorite dreams of you still wash ashore.
scraping through my head 'till I don't want to sleep anymore.

come on tell me.
make this all go away.
you make this all go away.
i'm down to just one thing.
and i'm starting to scare myself.
make this all go away.
you make this all go way.

I just want something.
I just want something I can never have

you always were the one to show me how
back then I couldn't do the things that I can do now.
this is slowly take me apart.
grey would be the color if I had a heart.
I just want something I can never have.
in this place it seems like such a same.
though it all looks different now,
I know it's still the same
everywhere I look you're all I see.
just a fading ing reminder of who I used to be.

come on tell me.
make this all go away.
you make this all go away.
i'm down to just one thing.
and i'm starting to scare myself.
make this all go away.
you make this all go way.

I just want something I can never have

think I know what you meant.
that night on my bed.
still picking at this scab
I wish you were dead.
you sweet and perry ellis.
just stains on my sheets.

that song got me through many a tough time. sometimes, you have to take a look at what you already have, and realize not only is it good enough, it's BETTER than the other side of the fence.

I wish I knew

I believe it's an unavoidable trap that anyone who is on a quest for happiness will eventually fall in, since we associate many things to hapiness..

I guess we have to live our lives the way it is and enjoy every little thing that is given to us..:happy2:

Wow this thread is becoming philosophical
