Do You Spend Too Much On Vinyl??

Are you sick of spending all your hard earned cash on expensive records? There has to be a cheaper way!

Does anyone know of a record pool, or membership where we can be getting vinyl for less? I've heard of paying a monthly fee, and getting sent a stack of records each month. Does this exist? Is it good? Advice, please.:conf:

well I think you need some sort of connections to be able to get into these places,or you have to be a well known dj I think,I had a friend who was part of this record pool, but he was a hiphop dj,I'll ask him how he got in and let you know, plus Iam sure some people on this board are part of those record pools,so they'll have better info then me.;)

YES, we do spend too much on vinyl...
and YES, there is a cheaper way, and it's called a CD... and yes, it involves MP3s too!

now now fantom, u dont wanna start another cd/mp3 vs vinyl war.
we are always in the struggle of piracy vs support our artists. Most of the artists we listen to don't really care much about mp3s and CDs being copied and spun and such and such.

new DJs simply have a choice to start out with either or and it is really a tough choice.
the idea is to combine both and use the technologies to our advantages.

my rule of thump: if it's on vinyl, get it. If it's a promo ur a rare one u DEFENITLY can not get ur hand on, by all means..

I think the answer for everybody is - YES.

That's just the fact of the situation. $15 for 1 song (a few remixes) is a lot of money - bottom line.

you can start a pool if you get enough people involved anda re willing to pay a set amount a month

there are other ways. some labels offer an advance promo service and stuff.

I find the problem with pools is that you end up getting sent a bunch of , and end up paying the same amount for good vinyls as you would normally since there's only 1 playable track per say every 3 vinyls or something

i do remember a few years ago my buddy would order his hardcore records through dj frisky, and he would take orders from a bunch of people in the city. Since they were all ordered under his name, they would get a discount (not sure of how significant the discount was). it worked out pretty good.
it would take a lot of organisation though to do this, since you have to either trust the poeple for them to pay you the money, or you have to get them to give you the money blah blah blah

essentially though i think it could work

I've never really known all the financial details pertaining to DJ'ing, but damnit, $15 per song kinda... sucks?!
