And consider that some of us TAs have 200+ records!

Plus turntables ($1500 for 2 1200s), plus mixer ($200 to $2500)... It gets up there...

I agree with all the cash complaints and DJ Rocco has a great point with the CDway of getting hard-to-finds, but yea vinyl love kills me too. I was downtown for other errands than viinyl shopping last friday thursday and I thought....hey lets see what's good at PDR and Release (I've found that Pit sux, unless you know exactly what u want and he has it). SO I was really sad I had to leave about 5 NYCE records at PDR and 4 NYCE records at Release b/c I'm just trying to save up for two 1200 M3Ds. I swear, once I have both TTs, I'm gonna spend soo much on vinyls...wow I can't wait.

As for discounts, I'm sure that if a bunch of us meet at PDR or Release and pre-order a bunch of imports and such, they'll give a quantity discount and we can all pay upfront there and come back when all the orders get in and take what we asked for. It'd be great...a TOTA vinyl shopping spree invasion!!!

Yes, yes you can wait. Believe me, you'll understand eventually.
Rekkid buying is a sick sick addiction. Nearly as bad an addiction as coke, but for the many nearly useless pieces of plastic you have collected in yer basement as testament to your expenditures. And I won't even get into how much I spend annually... You don't wanna know. I don't even wanna know.

Release doesn't really do special orders.

Record pools generally suck for the aforementioned reasons as well as the fact that the material isn't always quite as current as you may like (ie. no promos).

i've been trying to figure out a way to set up are own "pool"...the ta pool...basically, we all by under one account to get a solid discount...

If someone really wanted to do this right, they should open a part-time trance/progressive record shop.

Alternatively, if there's a popular new vinyl out, just co-ordinate and buy 10 copies from a European store with better prices to save on shipping.

Why don't you all organize something together?

You can save on shipping from online record stores for sure. Plus you should do a swap party one day and check out what other people have and might want to get rid of.

I'm still saying this - if you can afford it, get it on vinyl, if not, it and burn it on a CD! Just hope that the clubs that you play at have CD players too...

It's way to expensive.... lately i'm finding that my monthly cost for records range from $300-$400... I wish I were rich, so this wouldn't be such a big deal.
