no, there is password protection

this is getting old, do they have any proof downloading significantly harms any artists that concern us?

if you were to ask them they'd say royalty free music

but, like the article says they only plan on sueing the 'heaviest' distributers so unless you are on kazaa 24/7 sharing your britany spears and justin timberlake albums or are part of a ripping group who doesn't know how to keep their anonymousity you should be fine...if not you can say they're invading your privacy

What's the point in home broadband without p2p, nothing really. You don't need expensive/high usage cable to browse forums, look at sites and check email.

you cant just have access to full versions of free music forever you know. you have got to pay for the privilege somewhere. they might let you listen to something in the shop to try before you buy but that doesnt entitle you to completely rape a track by only having an mp3 copy instead of paying a small amount to own a version of it.

no matter how many cds you bought...it doesnt weigh against future tracks...every artist is individual and should be paid for their work.

its ing great to listen to mp3s to hear new music i know...but where do the artists get paid for your pleasure? not by you buying other music on cd...its by buying the right to play that exact track.

the riaa are not going to stop until the consumer starts to pay for the service that they are getting and currently expecting for free and i hope for the trance industrys sake that they achieve what they are intending.

As long as the internet is alive, file sharing (including music) will exist. The only thing the RIAA can do is make it harder for less computer savvy users to get them. But file sharing is next to imposible to completly stop, no matter how hard the RIAA wants it to happen. I've been downloading softwares that cost thousands of dollars to buy since 95, and they've only gotten easier to get since then.

i know this will happen....and so the end of the dance music industry begins unless we can market to the less savvy individuals who make up the charts. this will mean a commercialisation of the genre to fit the buying contingent...

Just because it's easy(downloading music), doesnt make it right. Its kind of shoking that so many people find downloading music/programs absolutly fine on a moral level. Does everyone here condone stealing too? Because if you download a cd instead of buying it, then your essentially stealing.

Whats really doesnt make sense to me is how people hate the riaa, all there doing is trying to make sure that people dont break the law and hurt there buisnesses. I really dont think thats such a bad thing. And cd sales effect people besides the execs and the artists, when you or I steal a cd it hurts the record stores and it hurts all the low level people in the record company too.

I own illegal mp3s, but at least I'm willing to admit I stole them. Why can't anyone else do the same?

Artists also to do gigs and concerts. Artists do make money off that dont they?

Its not the larger artists that get hurt, its the smallers ones that still drive their 1970's car and have barely to get by.

The larger artists on the other hand, like madonna or mjackson or metallica shouldnt have to worry about people donwloading their music.

I can proudly say i downloaded metallicas new CD and then deleted it because it sucked more than monica lewenski could ever suck. What a waste of bandwidth

And yes i have bought a ton of music. Vinyl ~$3000, about 200 Cds.
