Yeah Baby...Yeah!!!!

Toronto will not be making a bid until at least 2016 but more probably 2020

This is due to the fact that NYC has a bid going for 2012 and as it stands, will probably win because of the sympathy the rest of the world holds for NYC after the terror attacks.

Since Vancouver was announced as the 2010 host city and The IOC is reluctant to give the Olympics to cities in the same country within 10 years it will be hard to get the bid for hosting the Olympics anytime soon . So I've heard through the grapevine and media outlets that the earliest TO will even stand a chance of getting the games will be 2024. By then the city will be suffocated by the lack of funding from other levels of government, deteriorating transit, unsurmountable gridlock, and overall deteriorating urban infrastructure that it will be hard to win over the hearts of the IOC so that we can hold the games. Toronto's bid in 2001 for the 2008 games were very weak (compared to the other cities) We will need the support of all three levels of government but more importantly the support of the city residents (which we had absoloutely none of last time) to even stand a chance....Hey, sorry for the rant. I'm done now

yes, it is true that the IOC is hesitant to hand over the games to cities in the same country consecutively, but isn't it about time the games come to toronto?

today's victory for vancouver is bad because it assures that toronto wont get picked next time around... i mean... honestly... toronto IS the capitol of canada, i dont care what anyone says, and the fact that it hasn't hosted the games yet is a joke

NYC can go to hell... the olympic games are not awarded out of the sake of sympathy, though it just might happen because the whole world is going to hell like that (i'm not a fan of america, as you can tell). Boo hoo hoo... lets cry a little more about sars and have them award toronto the games out of sympathy... NOPE! Canada wouldn't stoop as low as the states.

Toronto will get it

we have the money and the international reputation

they gave it to the chinese because they joined WTO. I think it was a fix...it's wrong...playing volleyball in the same square where they killed ppl in 1989.

thats why I'm looking forward to a refreshingly honest, intelligent and active mayor...We should see some good things happen over the next 10 years. Without Mel behind the helm, anything can happen

Vancouver didn't win by an overwhelming vote count, but they did and that's what matters! It's great not only for B.C., but Canada as a whole as well. I wouldn't mind heading over there anytime soon. :toocool:
