Highly doubt that. From what I've heard from other hackers, Mitnick is . His hacking skills, even during his hacking days, are weak. He's a social hacker, in which his true technical hacking skills and tools are below-average at best.
Now watch I'll probably get hacked for that. Oh well. |

Anyone seeing strange firewall logs?
I saw some suspicious activity right before my DSL had a hung session. Might hahve just been a coincidence... |

As a hosting provider we get tons of different scans each day. If there are actually people participating they already have their sites picked out and have the flaws ready to extort. I spend a good time each week reviewing what we can do to be "less" hackable, no one will ever be hack proof. Security programs come about because someone got hacked, they aren't proactive.
Should be a fun weekend. As for firewall logs we haven't seen any increased activity this week. Most dignified hackers will avoid the contest. One, the contest is just stupid and the prize is worthless. A mediocre hacker could already have more space and bandwidth than they are offering. Two, with everyone on alert there is more of a risk of getting caught. With it in the news all those people running sites will now actually watch their logs and see who is doing what. They might even finally fix holes and install monitoring programs. This scare will probably have more benefits for the Internet in that aspect than negatives. I have seen so many webhosting forums of people who haven't updated firewalls, holes, ssh and other things in over a year suddenly fixing stuff. |

hahaha, and Kevin Mitnick isnt allowed near any computer-like
appliance till 2005 i think... so i highly doubt hes behind it.
and well, dont believe everything people say about him, because,
well, people like to talk . and even if he is bad, but has
great social skills, it gets the job done. better bad @ the
computer, great on the phone, and getting it done than average
on both and staying out. |
