Mutu is a magnificent player. Im really impressed by the financial muscle. Have never seen anything like it. I don't believe they will be able to win the league this year, but when they get their game together, damn! Geremi, Veron, Mutu, Duff are all world class players. This won't ruin the game in any way it will only make the premiership more interesting imo.

It'll raise the stakes meaning you have to be mega-rich to win the league. The situation is bad enough as it is with Man Utd's financial dominance but this will make it a lot worse.

Maybe, but at the same time it will make the quality of the league better. The competition will be fiercer and thats a good thing in my mind. It brings the premiership one step closer to becoming the best league in Europe. I dont think its possible to buy the league, there are a lot of things that has to work not only the player material. But sure, the chance is bigger.

Have they actually signed him or are you just taking the piss?

If this is true, Chelsea in My opinion have still signed no massive name players.

Quoted From Team Talk
Adrian Mutu is relishing the prospect of joining Roman Abramovich's Chelsea revolution but admits it was not "an easy choice" to leave Parma.

Mutu's Italian club Parma accepted a £15.8m bid from the Stamford Bridge big spenders.

The striker is now expected in London for talks next week over a projected five-year contract and if finalised his move would take Abramovich's spending to over £75m.

But the 24-year-old Romanian international admitted it was a tough decision to leave his Serie A club and particularly his coach Cesare Prandelli.

Mutu told Gazetta dello Sport that he was swayed after talking to his friend and former Blues defender Dan Petrescu.

Mutu said: "Dan Petrescu talked about Chelsea in a good way and I couldn't refuse the offer they made me.

"I asked my club to consider it and I have to thank the officials. After practically launching me, they have now given me the possibility to go to England.

"There was a big feeling with the coach and my team-mates. From a human point of view, it hasn't been an easy choice. But now it's done so let's think of Chelsea."

Chelsea announced on Saturday night that they had come to an agreement with Parma over Mutu, rated one of the best striking prospects in Serie A.

Mutu scored 17 league goals last season and four in the Uefa Cup.

Meanwhile, the French newspaper L'Equipe has reported that Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly has agreed a one-year extension to his current Stamford Bridge contract

So he hasnt even signed for them, all thats happened is that Parma Have accepted a bid from Chelsea. It says that hes due in london next week for contract talks.

I also heard that he had just been made captain of Parma aswell.

The top 3 places might be more competitive, but if it becomes a matter of money there'll be a massive gulf in quality/finances between the top of the league and everybody else, meaning it'll be virtually impossible for anyone to break the mould. Look at the situation in Scotland for example, the difference in points between the top 2 teams and everybody else. Sure it's very competitive among the top 2, but noone is remotely close to breaking the mould there.

I'm all for competitiveness at the top, but if you look at the odds for sides to win the Premiership, the 'big five' are all less than 10-1, the next side up the list is 250-1 with the bookmakers.
