Sadly, I think a lot of money can buy success, at least in the short-term. Blackburn won the league that way, but were relegated soon after and never won anything after that. Chelsea will be a worry this season but 5 or 10 years down the line this could do them more harm than good, espescially if they don't get the results they anticipated, this Russian guy takes his millions elsewhere and leaves them struggling with a massive wage bill.
I'd rather have a smart manager building a team for the future than a sudden massive cash injection from some dodgy Russian gangster. |

Chelsea have gone mad. They've got too much money and are going to kill the game. I like seeing competitive games between all teams in the league. Its going to take a lot more than just money to win the premiership title.
No player in my opinion is worth more than 15 million because they could be killed the next day after theyve been signed and the money would be wasted (this is an extreme example). Teams should be focusing on developing talent and not spending millions just buying in talent. |

Chelsea put in a bid of £71.4 million for Raul :eek:
They offered to pay him £8.4 million a year, double what he's getting at Real Madrid. He turned them down.
At least, that's what BBC claims. But then the press has said a lot this summer... |

ok...chelsea is cash crazy but did'nt liverpool show what happens when you spend a ton of money.....it does not guarantee a thing...hell..we won the premier and they did not.
Chelsea got arrogant and offered 70M pounds for Ruud and Sir Peter Kenyon told him to off and that Ruud is not for sale.
Harry Kewell made a big mistake joining liverpool but then again, we can win without him. |

Chelsea needed some reinforcements in the midfield.
Now we got them so I think Roman should stop spending now.
The Defence is no prob maybe the best in the premiership.
Midfield should be Ok but no more players now.
Forwards is good not worldclass but it should do for now.
