No, it's false. English is spoken by billions of humans. By using un french word to say "e-mail" is only to save the french language because it's not an "universal" language like english.
Can you stop to insult my people. We are NOT anti-americans.
On va bientôt appeler ca sauvegarder notre patrimoine. (Save our language patrimony). |

hahaha, "Pourquoi sommes-nous attaqués sans arrêt?" -

Rant on the French
i think this kind of one-sided rant is inappropriate propaganda. the writer loses a lot of credibility by refusing to examine the other side and just assuming that americans are right and the french are wrong although she has some valid glimmers.
however, such anger at the french for pretending not to understand english is absurd. i'm embarrassed to be an american when i travel because most americans tend to act so entitled and have no appreciation for foreign culture. who else goes to europe and eats exclusively at mcdonald's?
anyway, just another example of anti-french sentiment taken too far. i don't think emotional tirades like this ahve any place in decent journalism, which would explain why it's on a fox website. |

At any rate, aren't there also restrictions placed on French radio and tv media to play at least 60% French based music or tv programs or something along those lines? |
I don't know if its the case in France ( i doubt it) but this is the law here in Quebec. And DUH!!! this is perfectly normal!!! you have a tiny province with 7 millions french speaking surrounded by about 300 millions english speaking people! Of course the govt will do everything in his power to protect its tiny culture!! Also this has the advantage of promoting local talent. You guys have to see these laws in their own context. You try to comment on something that you don't fully grasp.
Eugene: your french suck ;) |

Well true, I may be speaking out of my ass because I don't live there but allow me to make a few points. If Quebec wishes to preserve the French culture of Quebec this wouldn't be an issue to begin with right? So why not let the people decide? Why doesn't Quebec open up a Quebec only radio/tv station where all the local talent and cultural programming is show cased and people can flock to if they were so interested in local culture. Why place restrictions and limitations on the choices and options people have just because you think it's a good idea that people don't listen to too much German music, or watch too much American tv? |
