| for both Gaming and Normal Windows/Linux stuff, the AMD Athlon kicks ass... it's something about AMD's FPU (not CPU) that is far superior and a AMD 1ghz vs a Pentium 4 1.4 ghz.. the AMD wins in almost all the tests (except for some 2D tests).. take the AMD... cheaper and far better |

I'm also buying a new computer, and i found the athlon to be the better choice. It's much much faster than the pentium III compared to the price, and that is what counts isn't it?
I think i'm getting a 1,33 GhZ :D *Looking forward to that day*

| Genuine Intel ??? what the f... does that mean it's the performance of a CPU that counts becuse with a good cooler ( more expensive tan 10 $ ) it won't break down . As for performance a P3 is quite equal to an Athlon 1 GHz to 1 GHz that is . But you can buy a 1333 MHz one for about the price of a 1 GHz P3 . Also if you've got money to waste you can get a P4 at 1.7 GHz which is slightly better than an 1.4 GHz P4 but the question is why would you need it because a 1333 MHz Athlon will be more than enough and in 6 months you can get a better one . Clear enough ? :) |

also...in the long run, when u need more performance & ur warranty is out...time to burn!!! overclock + silly cooling mods!!! LOL hahahaa :D:D:D |

Aight, to be more especific, I have a Gateway, 1 GHZ, pentium 3, 40 GIGS, 246 RAM , CD- RW.
The other one I have in my eyes is a Sony 1 Ghz, AMD AThlon, 40 GIGS, 128 , or 246 RAM, DVD and CD - RW .
Now .. thats why i was saying wich processor is better, since I have some competition here, I know gateways is good, so is sony.. but since AMD is new...... recommendations .. |

ahh, i think ur just after the name :p
...assuming they're the same price (u didn't say)...go the second one, 'cos ur getting a dvd for the same :):):)
amd isn't that new, and i used to be a big intel fan...until recently when i upgraded my comp (from pii 350 to athlon 800), for me 'cos i wasn't getting the whole lot, just m/b & cpu the amd was a better choice |

| hehe Liquid X ive just did an essay from computers on dis :) personally AMD is better coz its cheaper and da CPU's r better..AMD has made da fastest cpu in da world right now which is 1.5ghz :) da main boards dat come with AMD r usually supported with a 200mhz bus i mean there just brilliantly made thinking of da future meaning wise..hehe 2 much 2 say dood :) AMD is just da best i have AMD 450 and its really working well since 99 :) |

nah, it's gotta be higher than 1.5G
...my friend just picked up a 1.7G intel...so i don't know maybe 1.8-1.9 or maybe 2G processors are now made?? |
