1992
I had a thing for 2Unlimted and michael jackson(YES, i was nieve and stupid, but im aloud to be at the age of 10  )
1992-94
Enigmas album "MCXMCD" with "sadness". What a in classic ! :eyespop:.
Also deleriums album "Sematic spaces" with the track "incantation" (if i can remeber it was the track which featured on the neverending story, but im not sure)
1995
I was hooked on SASH!'s first No.1 hit "encore un fois" and then SASH!'s "Stay" with the brilliant uplifting vocals of le trec That was the track that did it for me.
1997-1998
I saw an add for gatecrashers "discotech" while watching video hits. It had barbers adagio for strings(the original) into skip raiders -another day. *No explanation needed* |

Back in high school I was really into the grunge scene .. Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Live, not the soft-cock-rock that's around now...
Graduated HS in 98, went to uni, went to a couple of clubs for the first time with new uni friends, liked the music. Was some good stuff on the radio which I enjoyed. I flipped the radio from MMM to Wild and the rest is history :D
I bought most of the Wild CDs until they went from bad to worse (about 12-13 I think), but still mainly listened to commercial dance (anything Ministry, Gatecrasher etc). Then during the course of my MP3 leeching in early 2002 I stumbled across this website called www.tranceaddict.com.
Sets that got me addicted:
Paul van Dyk Live @ Ministry of Sound Sessions 12-06-99
Paul Oakenfold Live @ Creamfields 1999

Any chance you can cut and past my reply on that ITM thread???? (i replied 1 after you, and can't find it!) lol...
track wise:-
Infusion - Spike (basically their whole phrtases and numbers CD)
Pnau's cd really got me going the right way...but neither of them are trance
Pete Tong and Tall Paul's NYE Mobile Home set in 2000 got me through nightshift 4 4 weeks in 2001 <--still not trance
Armin van Buuren's 3rd and 4th CD release are what showed me the ways (In Motion and Tranceparance respectivly).

my musical tastes lie in hip hop and r&b. listened to that addictively for most of my music life until i was told to broaden my musical scope. i picked up wild six and hence began my affinity for electronic music. one day i picked up a wild compilation and it had 2 tracks on it that will forever live in my heart
the thrillseekers - synaesthesia and
blank & jones - cream
it was around 99 then but id been listening to a bit of trance before that without realising what it was, like cosmicman - i love you (i cant believe that was produced so long ago) also helped influence that. and finally i found tranceaddict after a cpl years at homeofmusic.com
alltime fav set, oakie at lutherton hall 99 |

I'd been tino dancey stuff since I'd been hearing it since like 92 in my sister's car, she used to listen to italo-house stuff and eurodance,in Hindsight it was probably Cappella that laid the foundations for my love of trance. Then in about 96-97 I started listening to commercial dance more and more, Sash! was the main focus (click ---> here <---- for something I value highly and don't give a what anyone else thinks :p) until early 99, when my sister & I went to sydney for my cousin's wedding, and when shopping she heard music playing in a store that she liked. Went to HMV, bought the 2CD compilation, and when we got back to the car...well...CD1, track 1, and it was game over.
Solar Stone - Seven Cities
And the addiction began..... |

well must say it would have been early 90's.
was into the psy-goa trance stuff those days,,wth a touch of dutch hardcore [of the music kind]....;).......more so happy hardcore. stuff on rotterdam records, pengo and so on [think paul elstak and co]..but earlier on. mid-late 80's i was lovin the early pop-synth groups.....like the smiths, soft cell.pet shop boys, depeche mode and New order, whom which i still love!..
\\
but......then, i stumbled across this trak that blew me away//
visions of shiva - how much can u take.
1993/4
i was WTF..wow...
and thats when my love of trance started i guess.
[ and paul van dyk!..]
si8nce then i hvnt looked back..
ive seen the music evolve .....
i still dig the early stuf tho.
it was fresh and exciting back then..
but thats not to say that the stuff out now is boring.. i think its still of the same quality and if not better [as in production wise and equipment etc..]..
so there ya go..
x helen :) |

Before Tiesto became big (97-98) he used to come around to my place n play records, sometimes he'd bring his mate Ferry over but yea, they started gettin bitchy n i got Tiesto to off, so Armin took his place. But then trance was getting samey, and Sasha called me up from Ibiza n said 'yea come to my shack n we'll have a mixup'. So i did that, he tought me alot, got Diggers around who then introduced me to Nick Warren n Jody Wisternoff. Dave Seaman the bald popped in every now n then to show me a few things too - he even told me how he wish he had hair, n showed me a few hair styles he wanted. One of em was James Holdens bowlish alien look.
It's been through these guys that my tastes have spread heaps. I was at this houseparty n one of my mates was beatboxing while MC Conrad was freestylin, showin off his skills. LTJ Bukem then came later n put some proper dnb behind Conrads lyrics. I was amazed!! Omni Trio, Marky n XRS, Roni Size all showed me their . Choppin Sasha n co. with their skills. DJ Honda was there down from Japan, layin down some chill beats to wind down to after all the dnb. De La Soul, Mos Def, Naughty By Nature, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Souls of Mischeif, he laid down the lot with class n style. All got me into the beats scene which led to this guy wanting to take the piss outta Hard Kandy that stupid place. He started a chill series called Hed Kandi. All things beautiful, house, chillout all that stuff, hit ma soul baby.
Speakin of soul, my own was dieing for enrichment. I rang the soul master - the one they call The Timewriter. He opened me up, along with Andy Caldwell, Francois K n Frankie Knuckles. Time flies by listening to these pornstars. I used to chill at their New York pads with bitches all round, all naked  Knuckles likes to think of himself as Barry White's younger brother with all the ladies.
The amount that all these blokes have changed my life is unbelievable, all this by the tender age of 16. Ciao :) |

When I was at School, I always liked commercial dance (as well as some rock-: live and powderfinger) then I left school and started going to clubs, got Wild CD's and started listening to WildFM. Then I started getting into Big Beat, like Fatboy Slim and Chemical Brothers.
I went to Punblic Domain and It went off, I heard some of the support DJ's play some hard trance and I loved it. Then I went to Gatecrasher SSS, I loved the trance and fell in love with it.
I still enjoy breaks and other styles, but trance is my favorite! |

The following 3 albums were given to me by friends
Chicane - Behind the Sun
Kai Tracid - Skywalker 2000
and this compilation:
Slinky - Moscow
It was Slinky - Moscow that really got me into trance. |
