mm well back in 97 to 2000 i used to be a huge metal fan. i used to love my korn, deftones, tool ect and hated anything electronic. we had laptops at my school and there was a guy (john) that used to love his commercial trance (freefall - skydive. shh be quiet ect.) anyway i used to take the out of him for liking electronic music and used to say to him "hah 'techno' is just one beat over and over". then one day my mates took me to chasers underage (yeah for the people that know what chasers was, plz dont laugh :D) where they played commercial trance and i loved it. i kept asking john what the names of the songs were. after that i listened to a little bit of commercial trance. about 6 months later i saw an ad on TV promoting the new Hard NRG CD (it was vol.2) and i loved the sound of that. i bought it and the rest is history :D.
i basically listened to hard trance for a fair while, i didnt really like uplifting untill the start of this year. its all i listen to now, its so goood :D

I think it was about 1992/93. Started listening to stuff like Humate - Love Stimulation and Illuminatae - Tremora Del Terra (two of my alltime faves). Always had a love for trance, even though I had a brief Happy Hardcore stint that lasted for all of 6 months (I think I must have been brain-washed!!). Trance has always been with me.

Wow, that's over ten years... boy I feel old.

Well, around 1999/2000 I heard a tune Darude - Sandstorm. This initially got me onto listening his other stuff as well as liking 666, Public Domain and Scooter.

sorry but....BWHAHAHAHA!!! :stongue:

I notice a bit of a theme in this thread... people got into trance through cheesy stuff...

myself? well, i've always been facinated by electronic music... right from building my first (and somewhat unintentional) theramin.

but what got me into trance in a deep way was the demo scene. Man, some of the .mods coming out of norway/sweden/germany/etc... just beautiful.

I think (before the great head crash of '93) I had around 60Mb of trancey/dancey .mod/.s3m/etc at one stage. Yes, I know, this sounds a piddling amount these days, but you have to remember that I was living out in the middle of nowhere, with only two friends also in the scene (both of whom lived over an hour's drive away), with a 2400 baud modem to keep me connected :)

Ahhh, the memories.

hehe the track that got me into trance was Darude - Sandstorm back in early 2000. Pure cheese I know but still brings back memories when I hear it.

The first ever live sets I downloaded were Oakenfold@Gatecrasher (99 i think), PVD@Mayday and Ferry@Tranceenergy, and I played them non stop for months. And the first club I used to go to was Sublime.
