It was Slinky - Moscow that really got me into trance.

This was a biggie for me too, but before that i was told about a crazy man called Mauro Picotto who produced some cool stuff, got The Album and decided this thing deserved some attention. Went out and downloaded some Marco V, Tiesto and Mauro Picotto Livesets and never looked back.

Exactly, older trance had more feeling into it rather than trance now which is overpowered by greed. I'm not saying all producer's are like this BUT many are.

This lies to sports too, take NFL for example, in Us this used to be a game about pride and enjoyment, now its run but greedy pigs that want more than just fun.

Oh well.

have to agree there... first time I heard that piano kick in my world was changed forever! That style was certianly alot less complex than the stuff played today and had to rely on beautiful simplistic melodies... :)

well unfortunately mine was a bit less star studded than pointy's but I found this radio station which used to play all commercial dance and euro trance etc etc. I was listening to metal then so it started to merge ie more industrial stuff like fear factory, ministry before I just gradually shifted more and more to dance music. Started of liking prog and tribal and just sort of moved through to trance as my tastes wanted more.

Though if I had to put it down to a single moment I was hooked it would have been the mos hard nrg tour bout two years. Was my first real event and nik fish missed his plane and midro ended up playing for close to 4 hours. That was pretty amazing, then a local came on and played stuff like lemon 8 pressure, kosheen hide u and it was pretty much all over for me. :D

Before Tiesto became big (97-98) he used to come around to my place n play records, sometimes he'd bring his mate Ferry over but yea, they started gettin bitchy n i got Tiesto to off, so Armin took his place. But then trance was getting samey, and Sasha called me up from Ibiza n said 'yea come to my shack n we'll have a mixup'. So i did that, he tought me alot, got Diggers around who then introduced me to Nick Warren n Jody Wisternoff. Dave Seaman the bald popped in every now n then to show me a few things too - he even told me how he wish he had hair, n showed me a few hair styles he wanted. One of em was James Holdens bowlish alien look.

It's been through these guys that my tastes have spread heaps. I was at this houseparty n one of my mates was beatboxing while MC Conrad was freestylin, showin off his skills. LTJ Bukem then came later n put some proper dnb behind Conrads lyrics. I was amazed!! Omni Trio, Marky n XRS, Roni Size all showed me their . Choppin Sasha n co. with their skills. DJ Honda was there down from Japan, layin down some chill beats to wind down to after all the dnb. De La Soul, Mos Def, Naughty By Nature, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Souls of Mischeif, he laid down the lot with class n style. All got me into the beats scene which led to this guy wanting to take the piss outta Hard Kandy that stupid place. He started a chill series called Hed Kandi. All things beautiful, house, chillout all that stuff, hit ma soul baby.

Speakin of soul, my own was dieing for enrichment. I rang the soul master - the one they call The Timewriter. He opened me up, along with Andy Caldwell, Francois K n Frankie Knuckles. Time flies by listening to these pornstars. I used to chill at their New York pads with bitches all round, all naked  Knuckles likes to think of himself as Barry White's younger brother with all the ladies.

The amount that all these blokes have changed my life is unbelievable, all this by the tender age of 16. Ciao :)

so what is ferry up to these days? still chillin around coburg?

Hmmmmm..... Tis Back in 1990's ?(i can't remeber cause i was a wee lad). I first Saw Prodigy - Breathe (and i think i was going to an under 9 rugby game). then in 99' I heard\Saw Paul Van Dyk - For an Angel (Love Parade Edition) video on Launch. Ever since i heard teh odd Darude or ATB song. And bought some Wild Compilations (which were stolen :whip: ) Then Middle of Last year i was shown Tranceaddict.com where i have learnt a great deal more about my Fav Artists :D.

Well I was always a teeny bopper from about the age of 10, but i really liked my eurodance type stuff, such as Ace Of Base, Culture Beat, Corona, and especially Tokyo Ghetto . Then my friend bought one of the early Strictly Techno CD's and also the Tokyo Ghetto album (this was about 1996, age 13) and he left it around my house andi started listening to it. I found it a bit "weird" at first with no singing and being 100% electronic and stuff but yeah it really grew on me. I then purchased all the Strictly Techno's after that and i really like my commercial trance, such as Brainbug - Nightmare and Robert Miles - Children, as many of you have mentioned. Oh yeah lets not forget good old DJ Sakin & friends. :)
I found out about tranceaddict thru napster, as one of the songs i was downloading had the adress at the end of it. And yeah i lirked on the boards for about a year and then joined early 2001. Definately one of the best things thats happened as i am enjoying music more now than ever before thanks to this site. God Bless TA. :clown: :clown:

Well, around 1999/2000 I heard a tune Darude - Sandstorm. This initially got me onto listening his other stuff as well as liking 666, Public Domain and Scooter. Half way through 2001, a friends gave me a compalation with a few livesets on it... Tiesto live @ Trance Energy 2000 and Ferry live @ Hyperstate 2000.
Hearing some of the tunes for the first time I was like "WoW!!".
Half way through 2002 I came across this site, although I never joined, because I dont really tend to post, and I basically only wanted to read what other peoples opinions were and what was ment to be good at the time.

ok it all started where my heart still lies...
FAITHLESS
It was 97 when i went overseas, i first heard insomnia and absolutely loved it. I haven't looked back...
From faithless, i found ferry... his remix of "why go" :eyespop:
way out west remixed "Salva Mea" from there my trance experience started...
I had a friend in 2000 who was very much into psy trance/trance, endless conversations and comparing tracks, dj's, producers... playing the trainspotting game during livesets was always fun... i used to win (honest :p)
Various cd's and artists ultimately lead me to trance. Once all the cheese was eaten i found my way to the dutch kings :D and its been a really enjoyable journey :)

An older girl did it...

seriously!

My mates older sister copied me some altern8, ratpack, sl2, old ratty, hype, carl cox, tony de vit etc in about 91/2 I had my eurodance phase (long live cappella - did ne1 know they were actually mauro picotto ;)) and went thro D&B & Hardcore and found trance in 1996/7 with psy/harder stuff and just progressed from there into what i am today (pommie :p )
